I want to add additional brake and reverse lights to my bed rack. I don’t want to tap the trailer plug. How can I splice these onto the existing circuit without introducing gremlins? I know these trucks have sensitive electrical systems.

Or simply replace the stock bulbs with brighter leds.

If you remove one of the tail lights and make your splices within the well the splices will be better protected. Good technique and good parts and you shouldn't have any problems. Another option to splicing is using matching plug connectors that have the extra wires added.
