Thanks for the kind words. You dont need a tent, I have 4 extra beds in the cabin or this camper set up on the property that you could use. But you could set up camp if you like.

Great Cacapon 25422 just west of Berkeley Springs. Not far from Green Ridge State Forest.

You're welcome Dave. You are without a doubt one of the most hospitable dudes there is! You know I appreciate the offer.

And, I figure if I come up with that gung-ho camping mentality and can't deal, then is it best to be where there is comfort just in case than try it first off where there is not and have to suffer. I might be way softer than I think I am.

I am in the process of testing sleeping bags. I bought one that was supposed to be for larger people. An XL bag. It was nice and the fit was ok, but I felt like I needed more room. I picked up bag #2 today.

Here is a comparison photo of the two bags:

    upload_2019-3-22_22-29-52.jpg

The one on the left is a larger than normal sized bag at 80" long x 39" wide.
I fit fine but wanted more room because I roll around a lot when I sleep. I need to spread out.

    The size difference is ridiculous!!!!

The other bag is sold as a two person sleeping bag. Maybe two super skinny people but not two normal sized adults.

It is 83" x 55" so basically a tad longer but it's 16" wider!!!!!! It is so freaking thick compared to the other one though.

I am going to order another one that is in between the two. This one is nice but maybe a little too much material.

    It's freaking HUGE!!!!!

    upload_2019-3-22_22-37-59.jpg

It makes me laugh to look at it!!!!!!

I haven't camped in like 35 years. I'm expecting an adventure. And will likely require a lot of alcohol to help make it through the night blissfully!

But I'm adventurous, not afraid of anything and willing to take a chance that it will be a great experience. Some of my friends that know me think I'm crazy and will fail.

I plan to prove them wrong.

Rob just remember to stay warm you want the least amount of volume inside of a sleeping bag to warm up.

You could also use 2 sleeping bags zipped together to make 1 big one. And in the summer time you can just use light blankets instead of sleeping bags. Way more comfortable in the heat IMO.

What Tyler said ^^^ You might want to look into two sleeping bags that zip together. If they have that feature it will say so in the description. I know a a specific one that is summer weight. Good to about 45 degrees. Let me know if you want the link.

There is also the option of a sleeping quilt. Its what is use. It has a foot box from the knees down then fans out at the top.

Yeah, I agree 100% that this logic/science applies to normal people. However, my body generates so much more heat than the average person for some reason. Even at rest I'm freakishly hot. What you're saying though is exactly what I'm reading while researching my camping gear. Which is why I think I'm gonna order one more bag that is just a little larger than the first one, and smaller than the second one. Even though the Ozark is larger, it is a mummy style so it does have that going for it.

 this is exactly what I thought too. Buy two, quality smaller bags and zip them together. Then do exactly what you're saying in any temp above 50 degrees which is summer to me.

Yes Jerry, I'd like to look at that one, send the link please. The other thing I'm trying to do is get good quality that will withstand my abuse, and at a decent price.

The first bag was good, warm, had great features, but was too small. One thing that is important to me are the zippers. The Coleman zipped up effortlessly even though it was tight. The second bag, the Ozark required a lot more effort and the feel of the zipper was more of a rough metallic and not as smooth.

I suffer from insomnia to begin with. If I have to deal with shitty zippers and struggle, it will make getting back to sleep harder.

Besides being larger, the Ozark bag is very thick, and laying on my side on the floor wasn't uncomfortable at all. A thinner bag will require more padding. Even on a cot.

I'm going to look up sleeping quilt too. That's an interesting concept.

Another thing on my mind is the bag material. I sleep best in just my skivvies. These two bags don't have a cotton lining. The Coleman is more of a nylon, and the Ozark is some sort of blend, but not cotton. Makes me wonder if I should concentrate on those types. Might be why these two bags were excessively hot for me.

    Thanks guys!
