I live in Canada ...tint is illegal on front side windows...I have had tint on my vehicles windows for years..several tickets over time...now new laws ...they can seize the vehicle for government inspection at your expense...
so I have ceramic tint installed about a year or so ago...
How hard should this be to remove???
I do not have a plastic razor atm...
hair dryer .maybe a credit card to get it started...
    windex ..paper towel...
Should I pay the $40 to have the 2 windows removed or just attempt it myself?

I'd just rip it off. I can't imagine it being too hard and there isn't a risk of damage that I can think of.

You can't just rip it off. You might get the tint layer off, but the adhesive layer will stay on.

Best to have a steamer then a razor blade to clean it off. If no steam the razor with some spray cleaner can suffice.

It's worth $40 if you don't have to improvise. That adhesive is really sticky and will dry hard if you leave it alone.

It is a pain to do. I had to remove tint once. I did use a fabric steamer to make it easier, and then lots of windex to get the remaining adhesive off.

take the tint off...then spray the window with 50/50 mix ammonia and water let it sit a couple of minutes...spray again and scrape window with a razor blade.....be sure to have a paper towel handy to wipe/catch the glue. not a hard job to do...just tendious and time consuming.

I've had to remove tint from 3 cars and a Jeep.

Always started with a razor blade on one corner, and just pealed it off. Windex takes the glue off pretty good, it's a super thin layer.

cut out a piece of the black garbage bag to fit the inside of the window. Sprayed 409 on to the tint, place the cut garbage bag on to the window. Let that sit for about 10 min in sunlight. (Doesn’t have to be a hot day, just sunny. after letting it sit, pull off the film. Some of the glue if not all will still be on the window. Spray the glue again with the 409 and put the same cut piece of bag on the window. This will help the 409 to loosen up the glue and prevent it from evaporating, let it sit for 5 - 10 min. Scrape off with razor

ammonia or simple green will take the tint and the glue off fairly easily
