Hi all - 2019 TRD OR with the stealth side steps. I find them somewhat awkward to use and when you do use them you are towering way above the top of the truck. I say the mounting hardware needs a tweak and let the boards come down maybe 2 inches or so. Anyone found a remedy?

You posted a picture of a shadow. Hard to give advice when we have no idea what we're looking at.

Maybe a photo of the steps and another of their mounting points/angle.

    Maui, Hi
This would be interesting. 1 or 2" aluminum block under each mounting point with extended bolts.
I'd be interested in seeing this executed.

You've just described the problem I've ran into with every set of side steps I've ever tried to use. Lowering them 2 inches MIGHT help, But probably not enough to be worthwhile. As a friend once told me when I commented on his steps, "You get used to them." And I did. I got used to not using them. ;)

Seriously though, I think most people have them just for looks, and don't use them much. Exceptions being made for kids and short adults. Enjoy your purty new truck.

10/11/20 Edit: I did indeed get used to them. The trick for me is not to stand up on them, but instead to use them as an assist in getting my butt high enough to slide into and out of the seat.

Get some from a cadillac escalade, they have a motorized drop out/down.

You bet me to it. I was going to recommend this Keller 3 foot step ladder. They are very sturdy. Got mine at Menard's.

My '17 came with the factory side steps. Thought about trying to lower them but I ended up replacing them with some Magnum RT's that I got a deal on.

But it may end up costing more in the long run than purchasing a set of clean OEM predator takeoffs from CL... people opting for offroad sliders don’t want theirs anymore.

Agree. I was looking for predators when those Magnums came up for a little over $100.

Thanks everyone....i don't really need to use them but don't want my butt dragging across the seat every time i get in. I'll look around for some Predator steps.
