What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Completed the 5th Gen 4Runner brake upgrade late last night, along with new hubs. Think it turned out pretty well! Still have to bed in the brakes and adjust the rear brakes but looks like I’m going to be happy with the upgrade!

Changed the setup a bit. Prinsu on cab and sold the shell. Once the rain stops I’ll throw the tent in the back.

 

Didnt do it yet but I'm picking up my new to me Tacoma in the morning

This is what spark plugs look like if you don't change them for 85k miles. I bought my truck used with 65k and decided to change my spark plugs today. Needless to say they've never been changed out.

 

Good word getting the essentials done ASAP. Do you by chance have the always-on cig port thread handy? Appreciate it

 

Just under 4 years old and I hit this milestone.

 

60,000 mile service:

Rotated Tires
Greased Drive shafts
Changed oil (15k Mobile 1 synthetic)
Oil Sample taken, let’s see how good this 15k oil really is?

Oh and ordered Denso spark plugs that should arrive mid week. Found a solid deal on eBay from a Lexus dealership in Scottsdale AZ.

 

I updated my rack layout today. Prior, I had the solar panel sitting parallel to the bars, which was nice and it hid the panel from casual view. However, mounting my cases would block the sunlight too much. So here's the latest setup.

Installed Pop & Lock today. Followed the back up camera wiring, and then through the grommet under the passenger seat. In addition to the hose clamp, this definitely adds another layer of security

Installed a winch into my sos concepts streamline bumper. Factor 55 fairlead since the smittybilt one was too shiny, and I wanted the overland points

Awesome! I just hit 114k yesterday on my 2014 Taco, it's just over 4 ½yrs old.

Did you say you put bigger tires on after the alignment?

I could have used one of those during my first oil change. I had to stab the filter with a screw driver. My second oil change today was less eventful. Filter came off by hand, the same hand that tightened it.

I thought I was invincible until about 10 years ago when I lost a wheel going down the road. It was thanksgiving day, I was planning a 4 wheel brake job rotors and pads. I started in the front. The rotor boxes were not labeled and I happened to open the rear first. I was confused so I pulled the rear wheel off and quickly realized I had opened the rear rotors because the E brake went inside. I thought they sent me the wrong parts.

So I tree the rear wheel on, hand tightened the lugs. Finished the front, a couple hours went bye, and as I was buttoning up the front my wife at the time come out to the garage and started rushing me. I went in, cleaned up and got ready for thanks giving at her grandmas.

We made it about a mile down the road and my drivers rear came off and rolled right past the truck. My 5yo said “daddy there goes your wheel” I found all 5 lugs in the road and the only damage was to the rotor which I was replacing anyway. In my haste I forgot my lug lock socket on the workbench. Had to catch a ride with a fish tank repair man. His truck stunk so bad!!

Anyway that was a lot. My point. I always get parinoid and it forces me to double check everything. Check lists are good too. I learned hard from that mistake, it could have ended a lot worse. LoL

 

Go ahead and say I'm a little too OCD with dynamat coverage... You'd be right haha. Did the outer panel (from the inside) and then completely covered the inner panel. Plan on doing a layer of cotten insulation and MLV over all this soon. Then onto the floor, firewall, back wall and roof.

 

Curious to see how dynamat on the door works out for you. I currently have it on the roof, rear panel, ground. Just missing doors. Is it worth it?
