    Hey all,

    I bought a '16 Access Cab MT TRD Sport about a month ago. I've been perusing the forums for a bit now looking at all the suspension advice and I was hoping I could figure out what I've got going on, because my truck was modified before I bought it and I was hoping for some advice to go forward..
    IMG_20190325_124450.jpg

    It looks to me like I've got the 2016 OEM shocks and struts on board, the rears say "Toyota 48530-04100" "Hitachi" on them, I couldn't read the fronts but they have the same color scheme so I think it's a safe bet to say that for the shocks and struts I have are all stock.

    I also know for sure that I've got Toyo M/T Open Country LT 285/70R17 Tires on there, looks like a decent tread. They are most likely mounted on Fuel Maverick D538's in a 9 inch width. These tires are DEFINITELY rubbing when I go in reverse and move the steering wheel anything away from center. They occasionally rub something when going forwards with an extreme angle on the steering wheel, and also occasionally rub something when I go over a big bump like a curb or a larger speed bump/low point in a parking lot, etc. I sort of hate it when it does that, it's loud, I'm sure it's not good for the tires or the truck, and people can hear it. Not what I'd expect from a new to me truck. I for sure want to fix this.

    What I don't know; Is there a spacer on these wheels? Is there a leveling kit or aftermarket block on the front suspension? Are the springs stock?

    Sorry if the questions seem stupid, having not had a new OEM model to compare to and none of my friends having this truck it's a bit trickier for me to pick out what I'm looking at than I thought.

    My goal is to have a relatively level truck with a cap and drawer/bed storage system in the back, a low profile/SOS streamline front bumper in the front, prinsu AC rack, and be able to haul a 16' trailer full of rafting gear without scrubbing the front tires and keeping things more or less level. I don't do any rock crawling, what I hit routinely when boating are torn up FS roads with mud and tree roots, washboard roads, and maybe some super lo-speed rocky ramp like approaches and take offs.

    What I'm looking for is some suggestions for suspension upgrades that might solve the tire rubbing issue, and the rear sagging issue that you can probably see from the picture, and some input as to what the previous owner may have done. I'm hoping to not spend 2-3k on suspension parts on this one as the truck was already pretty spendy.

    Thanks!

    Your wheels are probably -12mm offset. From the looks, it doesn't appear to have a wheel spacer.
    Your front suspension does have a spacer lift on stock springs.
    Your rub is primarily due to the wide wheels and negative offset; they poke quite a bit. They create a larger arc when turned...
    Short of replacing the wheels and tires, you could try;
    -more caster(UCAs will probably be needed)
    -trimming/melting plastic up front for the rub in reverse
    -cab mount chop
    -hammering the pinch weld

    FWIW, I wouldn't run 285s on any size/offset rim without doing those four things.

    Is it possible to address the issue with a lift?
