    Most people only have factory alarms now. This isn’t the 80s and 90s. Vast majority of the OEM alarms only go off when a door is open. Very few have actual shock sensors added to them. Only time they will have any motion sensors is maybe in a high end vehicle or with an aftermarket alarms that’s an add on. Again very very few. While it’s possible the vibrations triggered some of the alarms that actually have a shock sensor, my guess is majority of them were simply only in panic mode. The owners probably hit the button putting their keys in their pants pockets or purses.

    Actually, I think a lot of cars still have that feature. I saw a newer car being towed on a wheel lift in Nashville last week with the alarm going off.

    yeah but being towed creates more vibration and movement than a swaying ferry. there are motor vibrations but rarely enough to resonate for an alarm to go off?
