Intercooler pump relocation!!!

    How good are you at chemistry/maths? There are actuall a lot of studies on many varying types and grades of steels and the rate at which they corrode over time with given exposure to specific chemicals. I only know this because i have a couple books at work specifically for that perpose. I would be willing to wager that methanol and mild carbon steel are both in there together. You can probably extrapolate the time constant out based on the amount of meth you wanna run and the desired corrosion of the engine.

    I probably have those same books if not something similar lol. It's the water along with the extreme temperatures & service environment that make me question the compatibility and long term metal loss. The latter is what gives me pause for running methanol injection in a daily driven vehicle.

    I hear you. But there are a lot of heavily boosted evo 8s and wrx stis running around with a methanol/water setup setup. Those guys have been out since 03/04 Respectivly. Agreed it is something that merits looking into a little deeper, but i have a hunch its gonna be fine for longevity. We probably have worse things to worry about on our trucks....like the frame lol.

    Lol no kidding.

    Again, it could be a complete non issue but I'm of the mind set "better safe than sorry". Like I said, I emailed some folks (a metallurgist & corrosion engineer) about this very subject and I'm keen on what they have to say.

    Wow yea, not quite apples to apples, but that does bring alot to mind. The 10 gauge steel with 15% water had a service life of 150 years, immersed in the stuff. Standing by for word from Biscuits metalurgist next week, might hust go ahead and do it.

    Consideration of temperature is crucial though. Heat tends to accelerate corrosion.

    True. But wouldn't it just burn off? I don't think id be worried about in the short term, as long as i pull apart the SC internals every 50,000 miles and inspect for corrosion, im aure it would be fine. Hmmmmmm

    What you need to look up is methanol effects on s/c lobes. I cannot say what the concentration levels are on any of the examples you'll find.

    Me personally, if my charge temps were getting to hot, and nothing else was helping, that'd be the next step. With a "decent" mixture of course..

    Yea that was my thought, run it and pull the S/C apart after 50k miles and see if theres any corrosion and if so, decide if i want to stop injection or just replace internal every 50k.

    I can definitely feel a power boost when its 60 degrees in the morning vs close to 90 degrees in the afternoon, so i think cooling my intake temps down would definitely help power alot!

    Wont adding a pulley just increase my blower temps due to faster internals?

    @TripleThreat been running water meth for the last 2-3 years.

    My buddy is running 50/50 in his turbo car for the last 3 years and his intake looks better than mine. Yes different setup. Get a nice steam cleaning. Valves and ports are so clean. Only scary issue could be is if your controller keeps spraying non stop. That is pretty rare or you have really sketchy electrical. I'd run meth if I needed it.

    Snugtop cab high canopy.
    I used water/methanol injection on my 1978 2wd Toyota pickup. I rebuilt the engine and there was no corrosion.

    The stock carburetor died so I put a Weber on it, there was no carb heat. I used 50% water 50% methanol (shellac thinner) in the winter, worked well.

    I ended up flipping the straps on mine so it "swung" towards the radiator instead of towards the bumper. Took a little flexing in order to get it all to fit right but it allowed me to fit a 10k winch in my bumper without issue.
