So how does you taco feel when going over you regular ol neighborhood 25 mph speed bump? Usually slow down to 15 ish mph because trd offroad, least mine, goes into slinky mode after speed bump. On an 04 envoy I can fly through it and feel nothing. Not saying is bad just wondering what you fellas with different models feel. Stiff or wobbly? :)

My Sport handles speed bumps very well. It may be a bit stiff going over but you don't get any aftershock or "slinky mode".

Funny you mention this...lots of those around here and I noticed unless crawling over them it was pretty bone jarring..would feel it in my back even. That was not at 20-30 mph but a pretty slow speed. Well after recently getting new shocks and coils along with air bags in rear, at 20+ it is totally different story and my false teeth don't pop out!

Put a couple 50 lb pet food bags over your rear axle and retest.

Personally I prefer slinky mode to jarring my teeth out but a little weight damps the oscillation right out.

With my 5160s I now take them at 40.

Get some 5100s, it's still soft going over the bumps but the recovery is more controlled in a shock who's price will not bend you over.

They seem to maintain what I liked about the stock OR shocks and corrected what I didnt like, the spongy floaty bounce.

Is your truck a long or short bed, wheelbase might make a difference also.

With no load in my bed, I tend to slow down over speed bumps or my traction light flashes because one tire is not touching the ground.

Stock Offroad shocks are terrible over speed bumps. They are both too soft and too firm in some magic of bad valving.

5100s is the cheap and cheerful answer. You don’t need to lift to put 5100s on. Truck will handle better on and Offroad. Huge improvement.

What tires and tire pressure are you running? If you have stiff sidewalls or are over inflated that can also make a big difference.

The trick on a stock OR is to hit them bitches fast. 25-30 is no problem.

I always found the bounciness hilarious. Every time it starts getting crazy spongy and bumpy I start laughing my ass off.

I have an off-road on ome springs, 5100’s, Ko2’s, and Ray 10’s. I pull up very cautiously, stick head out of window upon approach, and always ALWAYS go over at an angle as to not bottom out.

Then I remember I’m not 17 anymore in my pimped out lowrider. Dangit

Feels great with bilstein 6112/5160, great impact absorption and no additional/unwarranted motions.

Lol body on frame complaining about bumps. This kind of goes with the territory, no? I live on a street with those dreaded humps, three of them to be exact. With my unibody cars (even my old bimmer), I didn't really have to slow down and could go over them at 30 and be ok, it was even fun.

With the TRD OR, it's like bop, rear goes boooop, all my cabin shit flies around, all the loose shit in my bed goes crazy, and one or two follow-on up/downs just for fun, and then I go on my merry way. So, yeah, I go slower now.

5100s are an inexpensive improvement but it wont turn your truck into an offroad washboard surface racer.

Sr 4 cyl here... I have to crawl over speebumps or I’ll regret it... my truck is stiff as hell... basically when I am going over it the suspension remains in the same spot.. basically no “suspension”... maybe if I hit it faster.... but I can’t improperly treat my girl... so slow cuz it hurts...
