Attention '18 Owners: Auto Brake System False Alarms??

Deactivated it. Totally not necessary when you drive safe.

 

I've had my 2018 Taco since early August and the brake warning has appeared for no reason 3 times. Only one time did it activate and actually brake the truck and that was because there were 2 vehicles parked very close to the shoulder of the road. Thank goodness there was no one behind me as the braking was intense.

 

Same for my 2019.

 

Mine came on once while I was getting on the freeway. Just the alarm though. The brakes never engaged. It was raining so I attribute it to that. Once in 10 months is not an issue for me so far.

 

I though the auto braking was only if your using cruise? Only time mine really braked hard was when a guy jerked over in front of me while using cruise and it did it’s job, braked before I had time to react. I have had the dash light come on telling me to brake while not using cruise but the truck did nothing beside the lights and noise.

 

The auto brake systems on all vehicles I have seen really suck. I have it on a honda and it is sooo annoying. I have found on the highway it works really good.
In the city its the worst thing ever.

 

I have a 2018 Sport and never had any issues. I would suggest you to purchase the 2018 model since all cars and trucks will be getting this feature moving forward. I do LOVE the TSS as well!

 

I have had the brake display come on 2-3 times in the past 9 months for no apparent reason. Steady driving with no cruse on. I have also had it auto brake once when I came up too quickly on a turning car. So, that works.

 

My 2019 with 810 miles has started throwing Brake! Errors in the last week. Has anyone had luck with their dealers in trouble shoot the system? Baby’s first appointment is next Tuesday.
