The camera included with the kit is decent but you can find better quality (viewing angle, connectors, nighttime quality, etc).

    I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/NATIKA-Backu...se/dp/B07H852D49?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_17442842011

Thanks. I saw another user on FB use that one too so I think I will go with that one along with the kit.

    Hey TW,

So I bought the two different push switch setup (CH4x4 front and rear switches) and I wanna be able to switch each one on separately, so it sounds like I need a diode. Does anyone know specifically what diode? Or will any old diode do? Thanks in advance

So, I need a little help. I just received my full kit from ABC and wired it up. I’m not a noob at automotive wiring, but this isn’t working for me.

I am pretty sure I have everything wired up properly. Triple checked it all. (Pretty easy when all of the wire colors match). When I switch to the rear camera it works properly. But when I switch to the front camera, both indicators (front and rear) illuminate on the switch and I get a black screen.

I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong or if something in the kit is faulty (switch or relay). Help is appreciated!

Both indicators illuminate when the switch is set to Front. Don't know why, but that's what the site says. Afraid I can't help you with the black screen as I have yet to install my kit.

I went back and found that on the switch product page. Hadn’t seen that before. That helps rule one variable out. I thought both indicators illuminated was an indication of a problem. Now I am tending to think the issue is the camera itself. Will keep at it tomorrow. Probably going to hook another video source to the RCA just to verify everything downstream of that connection works properly.

I can't think of any logical reason why the lower indicator illuminates when in Reverse, but both illuminate in Front. Just doesn't make sense.

Got my kit installed this afternoon/evening. Big thanks to both @n6vmo doing the edit with the original high tech @capequahog schematic, and of course @Papadave418 for starting this. Only thing different on mine is that my wire off the relay I got was green rather than red. Hooked everything up and it works perfectly. I went with one of the $15 Amazon cameras and I think I may go back and put one of the better quality units in. Haven’t seen video quality in the daylight yet but the night video quality is not great and it easily washes out with headlights. The lack of dimmer on the camera switch isn’t a huge deal right now, but I would like to have it dim.
And the 30 feet of video cable was fun to secure behind the head unit.
Overall very happy with the camera mod with the listed issue but definitely a good mod.

I installed mine off of the centerline.

The camera is just about inline with where my forward line of sight normally is. I'm still getting "Clean Sensor" errors on my Pro grille (I have an SR5) and I didn't want to mess with having the camera module right over the sensor.

The crossbar on the red limit line is about 1 foot off of the leading edge of my bumper. The green crossbar is about 4 feet. Daytime video quality is ok, but I think I'm going to upgrade the camera to better quality unit. It's not bad, but I think I'm going to want a little better video quality. I'll see how I like it over time.
This is the camera I ordered:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RD05MOO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nighttime illumination from the camera icon is rather bright.

Excellent job with the switch, looks very close to an OEM unit, wiring was very easy.

Thank you sir. I was back and forth on the idea but your thread got me through it. If I'm researching something and see a thread from you on it, it's a must-look for me. Thanks for contributing all that you do.

    Quick note:
On the most recent batch from ABC the wires coming off of the relay are black and green, there is no longer a red wire. At least on the kit that I just received.

Think it's about time to order this now that I have my switchpro going in soon. Only took me about 3 months to order.

So I purchased the integration module and a camera for the front. I'll see how it goes.

As to camera - I got the one that fits in the toyota emblem - although I have a solid emblem for the TSS. I think with my OR grill it will fit in there...I'll show some pics.

I will use the factory backup cam - I wanted to see if the integration unit would take a third input from a trailer - but I don't think it will.

    An update on my situation:

It turned out to be a problem with the wiring to the relay in the ABC kit. After many hours of installing/uninstalling and wiring/rewiring different powers and grounds, testing continuity, etc - I finally got a picture from the front camera when I had the relay loose and not secured in place. After wiggling things around a bit I determined it was an issue with the bundle of three white wires going to the relay.

I finally decided to cut the heat shrink tubing off those wires to see what was going on underneath and as soon as the heat shrink was off I got a solid, clean image from the front camera. I taped those wires back up with electrical tape and the problem has been gone ever since.

I can't pretend to know why this fixed it, what was wrong or if the problem will stay fixed. Only time will tell.

Interesting, are the white wires just going into the black there and taped together, if so maybe a loosie in the relay itself

Hi all. I just finished the install of the front and back kit. Using the front camera is great, and only makes me wish that this video feed can be recorded. Application would be go pro style, or even as a dashcam of sorts.

Definitely not loose inside the relay. It was certainly that particular joint where the heat shrink is, about .5" before the relay. Underneath the heat shrink those wires are spliced together and it's a bit of an odd, open splicing situation. I taped it back up and it's been fine ever since.

There are mobile DVR products out there that you could easily put in-line with the front camera. Some of them even take multiple feeds so, presumably, you could get both the front and rear camera feeds from the ABC harness and record them simultaneously.

You'd need to wire the front camera to constant power and not to switched power to make it work.
