What options are there for replacing the seats in these trucks? I have the SR5 seats, but they're a little soft, and my back really starts to hurt on those 5+ hour trips. I'm looking for something a little more firm and with better support. I sat in my friends OR and the TRD seats seem a lot firmer, so I might try them. Just wondering if there were any other options. I'm looking for something mostly plug and play. I don't need leather or heated or anything like that...

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Seats are pricey. Hard to find decent used Sport/TRD seats. New will cost $1900 each. I am about to spend $400 rebuilding mine.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I feel you. If you haven't tried already, a simple 1" seat spacer made a HUGE difference for me and many others on here.

I was hoping I'd find a pair at a junkyard or something. But damn, I had no idea they were so expensive. I don't get it....

The problem isn't the position of the seat, it's that it's just too soft. My ass sinks in with no real support.

I wonder if I could find a local upholster place to beef it up a bit.

    Absolutely.

Find a shop that is skilled in hot rods and older restorations. They should have talent. Sometimes a denser foam is all that is needed, sometimes springs are broken/undone that need attention.

I should have grabbed one 10 years ago...a complete assembly. I have looked at a bunch of them from salvage yards. Am I the only one who doesn't have a bunch of stains, cigarette burns or tares in my seat??? Most were advertised for around $400. For that money, I prefer to just refoam my unstained, unburned seat with no tares. Guess the $200 TRD seat covers were worth every penny I paid.

After a quick search it looks like there are a number of auto upholster places in my area. I will definitely go that route. I'll update with any results.

Yep. Took the seat to a local place and for $150 they rebuilt the bottom cushion. First impressions are great - lot more firm and supportive. We'll see how my back does on the next 6+ hour trip, which will be in June.

This was definitely the way to go.

Just bought it, but it's been lifted and who knows what else has been crappily done before I got it. It's going to be a project for sure... but it's my daily driver too.
