Sup guys, bought my first Tacoma earlier this week... so, I went with an SR5, but I would like to do some off-roading (i live in Utah) and to some degree I feel like I might have made a mistake with not getting an OR since I know crawl and the lockers could potentially make a big difference, but does anyone out there off-road with their SR5? Might be a dumb question.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

Lots of people off-road SR5’s. Just make sure you go with some buddies and at least one other vehicle with a tow strap or winch. You’ll be fine and will soon learn what your truck is capable of. It will probably surprise you.

Hey man! I have a '17 SR that I recently took on some pretty legit trails here in KY, and it did phenomenal, completely stock! I just made a post about it, if you wanna check it out, and put up a couple pics of it! Your SR5 is very capable!

Thanks for the input! I’ll check it out! I’m sure I won’t have an issue with what I plan on getting myself into, but down the road might end up throwing air lockers on just in case hahah

I took my SR5 off road at Hidden Falls Adventure Park here in Texas a little while back. I did some hairy stuff that I never would have thought it could do, but spotters led me on. All stock, except tires. I am now convinced it's part mountain goat! SR5's are very capable. Welcome to TW!

SR's/SR5's are very capable off-road. Just do some looking in the 3rd gen forum and elsewhere on TW and you'll see all sorts of adventures TW members go on in their Tacoma's. Sure the OR and Pro have some nice extras, but the real world benefits of some of those extras are questionable. I bought an OR but quite frankly for what I do a SR would of been fine.
