    Hey Everyone,

Just bought my first truck! I'm a woodworker, and I'm building my house, and I'm tired of the difficulties of using the family cars (Civic, Sienna, Pacifica) for projects. I've also long envied the expedition trucks during my travels - so this will eventually be a toy to supplement my travel bug.

I'm guessing I can't post pics until I've made a few posts, so I'll use this thread to be a little annoying with the post count.

I live in VT, and affordable Toyotas don't exist in this area without real rust problems. So, when I went out to Sacramento to visit family I took the opportunity to do some car hunting.

I wanted a 4-cylinder because I have a thing against V6s, and I hate being on time. Manual wasn't necessary, but I do love shifting gears. I was looking specifically at pre-97 to squeak by most of VT's emissions regulations.

I found it. 218k. The PO thought it was a TRD because it came with stickers (plus, another prospective buyer was an "expert" who told him '95 was the first year of the TRD), so I had to talk him down a little bit. I was happy to haggle, though. This thing has no rust. I'm over the moon.

First thing I'll be doing is paint. I don't want this truck to see a winter without that. The last old car I brought home from CA has holes around the wheel wells after 3 years.

I haven't looked into how hard it is to pull the cab, but I want to be as thorough as I can be. I want this to go another 200k.

Once I'm satisfied with paint, I'll likely start by adding some convenience mods like central locking, and bucket seats.

My bed cap is wrong for the truck, plus I'm interested in building something like this for better fuel economy: https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/commercially-produced-aerodynamic-pickup-bed-cap-583.html

Looking down the road a ways, I'll be interested in making this a better toad with something like this "full floater conversion kit" - https://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/full-floater-conversion/

I also like their twin-stick conversion.

    Ode of the road.

My sister's kids were pretty into my rig. The girls tagged along for the whole inspection when I got it back to their house. Then they used it as a stage to orate every hike they'd ever been on (x3).

The truck will be parked in Cali until mid-May when I get back out for the roadtrip home.
