I bought 4 wheels and tires from a Toyota Forerunner similar to the one pictured with less than 1000 miles to install on my 2017 Tacoma TRD 4X4 sport. Put them on the truck and took it to my friendly repair shop to have the TPMS reset to the new wheels. The machine they used would not recognize the TPMS until he used the Forerunner information. He tried both the upper and lower signal and it would not accept it as a Tacoma. He put it into the machine as a Forerunner and it would accept those signals but would not download them into the computer. What is the problem? He can clone the original TPMS in the original wheels and install them in my new wheels BUT I have to take the original wheels to clone and then break down the new wheels and instal them. Just more money

Gonna tag this as I’m wanting to buy new tires & wheels and keep/maybe sell my current wheels & tires as a package. Was wondering what I’d need to do to get TPMS to work right.

You need 3rd gen Tacoma sensors, programed into TechStream. This has been done a ton here. A search on me alone will provide a bunch of answers.

Simple. New sensors, and have the dealer program them. If you don't have the code and locations they will have to tear down the tires and get the info. Probably about 140 bucks at Toyota.

If you have your old wheels go to discount tire. They will swap them out for you.
I did that and only cost $40.
