    I'm confused. plasma is for cutting, Mig is for welding.

    I'm not best for answering you question. I want nothing to do with TIG. My MIG setups do 99 percent if the jobs I need done.

    That 1 percent, I pay someone who TIG welds only.

    I sell my MIG skills, the TIG welder sells his skills. Everyone wins.

    The boat in my signature, every weld looked just as sooty as your welds. It still floats.
    If someone can tell me how to reduce the soot, I'm all ears.

    Because I'm lazy. I don't have enough lifetime to master MIG, TIG and stick welding. I happy with improving my MIG skills.

    I think I'm better than average MIG welder, but everytime I weld, I try to be better.

    These companies know we like options, just like in cars. The more knobs and buttons, we think we are getting a deal. We are just getting buttons and knobs that we won't use.

    More is not better.

    I'm happy being able to adjust my machines in 30 seconds. I'm not gonna consult the manual to find what settings are needed when I switch from one style to another.

    Like a hammer in search of a nail, I finally found a "real" project to do.
    Glued some wheels on my gang box.
    Sure, I probably could've drilled holes and bolted them on but I wanted to weld something damnit!

    Next thing I really want to figure out is a stand for my bench grinder and vise. I would use them so much more if they were portable and not always buried.
