Glad the OP is happy but these mpg discussions baffle me (no offense or disrespect, OP.) 150K members here but no one ever conveys any pertinent info that correlates to their particular environment which is really what determines where you fall in the spectrum of efficiency.

ps. I've an ARE shell that really showed no impact on my fuel economy [where I drive.]

Just drove my 80 year old father-in-law’s 2017 Limited. Checking things out, he forgets what switches are for and here is his;60821760-28BC-4C18-96DF-ADFC064F0963.jpg

I've tracked every tank since new. You can click on my sig and look through all 60K miles of them.

Most is with the cap on, but I've had it off twice and it's about .5mpg improvement without it. Mine's a 6 speed manual so that is the biggest hit. I ran factory tires until they wore out, and lifted the truck about 2" and installed 265/75/16 KO2s back in December which makes mileage look a little worse than it is.

Thid truck hates hills and real cold weather. I see about 20mpg in warm flat driving conditions and 17 when driving up and down hills.

I drove about 100 plus miles yesterday, back roads between 45 and 65 up and down hills, got over 20. Around town 18ish if I pay attention. Highway, 16ish.

It's pretty remarkable how close we are on Fuelly. Both driving '16s with 6MT. Mine has a camper shell, and I was at 17.7 through the first 50K miles, before I lifted and swapped tires. On the mileage since 12/19, you can basically just multiply by 1.03 to get the true MPG with the larger tires. It nets out to less than .5mpg difference between the factory tires and the 265/75/16 KO2s. I was pretty happy with that.
