Got It! For Once I'm doin' it correctly. :yay: I don't heat often in the Winter but when I do, it may have to be on Sustained for up to 10 - 14 days at constant temp. Thanks for the reassurance.

Quit being a dick lol maybe he likes replacing sheathing and rafters :)

Sounds like he might’ve addressed ventilation with some wrapped up/squished batts. Would not work well in a wet/cold climate, but condensation on underside of sheathing should be less of an issue in sunny so cal lol.
@Crom u should definitely go back thru and add some baffles lol humidity never sleeps. cardboard ones tend to be more rigid than the egg carton ones

So the bottom end of the vent path is covered/blocked by the fascia board?

In the picture above, the fascia (outside board all the way to the left? ) that is level with the joists that the insulation sits in between. It’s actually nailed to the joist so the baffles come down the roof and rest against the top of it. The insulation runs between the joists out to the end and looks like it’s up against that facia board.

Might help, but it sure sounds like your insulation is shoved out on top if the soffit against the fascia board which is nullifying any effect the baffles may have had. I’d pull/cut the batts and baffles back to where they sit flush with the outside of the top plate. Also make sure your soffit has vents between the rafters :)

There’s definitely vents there. I just think like you said they are covered by the insulation. I’ll pull it back and cut it a bit. The joists run out about a foot over the house with a vinyl vent nailed to the bottom and that facia board nailed to the end of it. I can see baffles on one side but not the other and the insulation looks to be all the way out to that facia.

yeah I want the "shop style" lights. I've had the electricians put two spots for wiring in two lights, then I plan to "link" the other two on the ends of those to cover the length of the garage. so that I can turn on any combination of lights

Good deal, was just wanting to throw it out there if you were looking at options. I've seen other people go with those same lights you linked and were happy with them.

ordered, thanks. I also had a coworker who had gotten them and likes them. I have plenty of Amazon points to get them free so worth a shot to me.

You only need baffles is the insulation is blocking the airflow. It’s all going to depend on the design/framing of your house/attic.

I used to work for a GC and we got contracted a lot to do flooded house clean up. Nothing quite like the smell of soggy basement carpet but worse than that is rubber base. The glue on that stuff smell horrendous
