I need someone in LA area (South Bay preferred) with a '95-00 Taco, willing to participate in final development of a high-lift hood strut kit, similar to our '01-04 Taco and 4Runner high-lift strut kits. I expect this to be a two-step process (hence the need for someone local): first, I’ll take some final measurements and finalize the design; then, we’ll follow up with the installation/photo documentation. You'll get the kit for free in exchange for your time.

Ideally your truck will be close to stock under the hood, i.e. not a bunch of added fuse boxes and other items that may interfere with the struts. I would also prefer a truck that is reasonably nicely maintained so that it would show well in pictures.

I’d like someone who is patient, easy going, curious/creative, easy to work with, and willing to participate in this endeavor.

    Please PM me if interested.

I was kindly "directed" here by @LOLLY .

I have a '98 Reg Cab 4WD and live in HB and I do have every other Friday off from work. I can help with measurements, but under the hood has plenty of California's "finest" desert sand and the Picasso pin striping on the sides. :notsure:

So, for "new product"... ummmmmm, my rig is NOT photogenic in nature.:D:p:laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl::mudding:

BUT, I might be able to help you out with the measurements? :notsure:

Anyways... hope you get your product done.:fistbump:

Thanks for chiming in and offering to help . We're a little further apart than I'd prefer, but what's an extra 1/2 hour on the lovely 405 :).

I took some measurements from a local guy with a 2000 Prerunner, so I know what to expect. At this point I want to actually try an installation of the hood struts, which the local guy didn't want (he said he never opens the hood).

I think it's fine if your truck is not all that photogenic, there's beauty in being rugged and "real world".

I'll PM you for some additional discussion, thanks again for the offer.

Here's the high-lift kit installed in an '01 Taco, just need to adapt it to the earlier Taco hood geometry.
