I’m adding auxiliary reverse lights, and need a way to trigger the relay. Preferably a fuse inside the coin tray, but the main fuse box would be fine too.

I’ve seen a couple photos of wires inside the coin tray hole, but none of those matched what I see in mine. The fuse labeled for the reverse lights seems to be hot all the time.

I have a 2014 TRD:OR, regular engine without nav or JBL.

    What else should I check?

If I remember correctly there is a relay for the reverse lights which would explain why that fuse is hot when the rig is on.
I tapped into the reverse wire of the 7-pin connector at the trailer hitch when adding aux reverse lights. They only draw a couple amps total so they’re not too large of a load on the system. If you have the tow package this is an option for you. If you do what I did and try to keep the look factory I would recommend replacing the factory crimp style 7-pin harness with a screw terminal type as that makes the mod much easier to complete. If I had to do it again that would be $20 well spent.

I’ve thought about that, but that would mean running another wire from the relay in the front of the truck to the rear, and I’d rather avoid that.
The Baja Designs harness I’m using includes a relay and wiring already, so tapping into either of the fuse boxes is ideal.

The yellow wire in slot 7 is dedicated towing reverse fused n relay. The red wire shares fuse with other systems. (10amp IG1)

Yes, since all you are doing is tapping it for the relay trigger to the added lights.
