I'm in the process of de-chroming everthing on my truck. the only chrome things on it still are inside the lights, which I wanna open up and smoke like the OEM style smoked lights, the front emblem, and the steering wheel emblem. My truck is all silver so I wanna go all silver and all black. Eventually I'm gonna wrap it with 3M Satin White Aluminum vinyl which is gonna look sick.... This is white satin but it shows the satin finish better in photos I think

I've been seeing more and more wraps lately. I don't understand the craze? How much does it cost to wrap an entire car? After you wrap it how do you maintain it? How long does it last?

It's super nice because it protects the car from scrathes, like a whole car bra so racks and tree branches won't damage your actual car offroad.
I just really like reduced gloss, I think the satin is a really nice subtle touch. Also, I hate shiny things, hence chrome removal ect.
For a tacoma it's about $500-600 for 3m material, others are cheaper (I was gonna get some extra, 300 sqft, cuz I've never done it before)
Installation is super expensive though, several grand usually.
My friend wrapped his evo cuz it's got a wide body kit on it so I figured he could help me, just buy some beer.
You wash it and everything like a normal car, the more matte the finish though the more careful you have to be because rubbing excessively can flatten it.
I think 3m has a warrenty for 7 years for gloss, satin, and matte.
5 years for brushed, carbon imitation or the other patterned textures.

Selling 2012 TRD Sport 18" chrome clad wheels. Took them off my truck when I bought the truck in 2012. They have been sitting in my garage and must go.

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but has anyone else removed the chrome clad covers recently? Any tips beside what was posted here? Bought my 2012 Sport with these wheels in Nov., and would really like to remove them. I tried prying a bit last night and didn't get anywhere. Seems like it is going to be a real bear.

I’m looking for a set of covers if anyone has some lying around. Beat up/scratched/broken is fine as I plan on modifying them anyway. Much appreciated!

I have some but they're pretty fucked from prying off. I'll take some pictures if you like.

@GTV Shit man, I moved and lost them. I couldn't find this thread again and then forgot about it. My apologies, really.

@rjbiii They look just like the spare, like a silver powdercoat, but then there is a bunch of adhesive on them I have a hard time imagining you could get off without damaging them. I took my chrome faces off with a gasket scraper and then they got sandblasted.

Wow, I just figured out that you can put your photos directly in the site without having to host them XD.
Two stage first with silver metal flake and then transparent lime lollipop topcoat.
