Thank you sir! You are too kind! Not sure what i did to help you out, i think i just asked you countless questions, but either way, i appreciate it! :hattip:

Mine is only the stage 3, but break in still was painful, i think mostly due to the lightweight flywheel and the grabbing power of the clutch plate. I stall mine out 2-3 times a day haha.. and the truck always does the herky jerky at stop lights if i am forunate enough to not stall it out. I do live in the hill country though, so i am constantly taking off from stop lights on inclines. People must think i absolutely suck at driving.. It has gotten better as the break in has gone on though, getting a lot smoother now

Yeah honestly I think that was it, you just asked me so many questions it made me think about everything differently, lol.

Ah yeah hill driving, I don't get much of that here. This is the Canadian tornado alley so it's all flat. Well that's good to know it wasn't just me lol, was pretty painful breaking in this clutch.

Glad i could be of assitance lol :D

Yeah the hills made it more of a pita than it needed to be. That, and everyone always likes to pull right up on my ass at the stop lights since they have automatics

Heh. I don't always like bling, but when I do, I like it on the rear of my truck. Some dudes on the Tacoma enthusiast facebook page were making fun of me for those. I subsequently got into an argument with them and got banned. Lol. Also this picture is from before I fixed the bumper... I backed into a pole last spring...

Haha damn them.. they just jelly :luvya:

I like em! What did that supercharged emblem come off of?

I took my v6 emblem off and got an sr5 emblem and im going to hack them together. SR5 stands for Sport rally 5-speed, so im going to make an SR6 emblem since my trucks a 6 speed. Going to color match it like the rest of my badges. Should look close to factory when im done

That's a good idea! Do you get a body shop to color match? Yeah, I found it a little funny when I learned what SR5 stood for, given that they still apply it to our 6-speeders.

The supercharged emblem was off eBay for some domestic. Can't remember which one now. If you search for "supercharged emblem chrome" and then filter for highest price to lowest, it should show up near the top.

Color match it myself! Cut apart a "4" off of a 4wd emblem from a tundra/sequoia and slapped it on in front of the x-runner badge I put on. Pretty close match imo. Got the color matched paint and clear coat from automotivetouchup.com

Need to take it off and sand down the back to make it the same thickness as the other badge. Cant tell a difference from a few feet away, but up close it bothers me. Will have to look into one of those badges.. cant decide whether I want one or not. I kinda like the sleeper-ness of the truck lol

That does look good. You've got me thinking. Although chrome badges on a silver truck are almost the same level of subtlety. But on any other color they would stand out like Pinocchio's nose.

Thanks man! I say color match em! Gloss black would look good as well, since your wheels are black. Just a thought!

Man, awesome build! Just followed you on the ig. What kinda whp numbers are you making now with the smaller pulley? Saw the dyno from 2018 but doesnt look like you had the smaller pulley in that one?

Thanks for helping me feel famouser!

Yeah I had the 2” pulley when I did that dyno. Was running a bit weird then too, extremely rich probably due to bad maf. I’d bet if I went to the dyno now with the smaller pulley it’d be about 5% more torque 2500-4000rpm. The upper end is more restricted though, I seem to have hit a max airflow situation at about 4500rpm, so I probably wouldn’t see much there. You never know though, I have plans to go to the dyno again this spring. They will have a boost meter for another event, normally this dyno won’t measure boost, just AFR.

@Gilmorec61 following you as well now, I assume you have a build thread so I’ll check that out. Anything new on the truck lately?

Yessir:thumbsup: thanks for the follow back as well!

Interesting stuff, i think I may have been expecting a little more with the smaller pulley. From the factory, the sc is supposed to put out a touch over 300hp to the crank, is that correct or am I imagining things?

As far as my truck, nothing too crazy as of recently. Front bumper and some lighting is the most recent ‘big’ mods. Oh and had to replace rack and pinion, that was fun... My priority right now is armor as I plan on wheeling as often as I can. Im actually heading to SC to SOS Concepts to pick up a set of full skids and a HC rear first thing tomorrow AM. Excited to get that stuff color matched and installed but it probably won’t happen for a month due to my graduation approaching and senior projects blah blah blah.

I definitely plan on doing some power adders down the road. As of now she has the stock intake and exhaust so I can only imagine how those are affecting the potential of the SC. If the PO was correct, it should have a 2.85” pulley on it now(making 6-7lbs of boost). I plan on getting the aFe CAI and then a y pipe(id love roost factors but $$$ and a long wait time) to a 3” exhaust more than likely. At some point I will do headers as well. Won’t get too crazy into performance with this, I have an rsx that I’ll tinker with a little deeper. The taco is my DD so need to maintain the reliability factor of it!

I also wanna add a pillar gauges to have potentially another afr gauge to read each bank individually. Would also like something to display trans temps and oil pressure. Also saw something on the sc forum where someone had tapped into their sc coolant lines and was monitoring those temps and I thought that was pretty neat. I think the best thing to do for monitoring oil pressure and trans temps will be to get an aftermarket HU that will integrate into the diagnostics of the truck so it will display all that info.

You are correct. Keep in mind that's 260 wheel horsepower - on a cold day. Torque with the supercharger was advertised as 335ftlbs at the crank, which is maybe 290ftlbs at the wheels. So if we compare numbers to numbers I have 366hp at the wheels, which is 116hp more than stock supercharged, and 130ftlbs more than stock supercharged. Another way to look at it is I actually have just over 400hp at the crank and 480ftlbs at the crank. Which does make it sound okay compared to the stock supercharger power.

But still, one can't overestimate the effect that boost has on power and torque without corresponding flow upgrades. It's more about airflow, not boost, and doubling boost won't get you double the power unless you do what you need to in order to flow more air. I have this feeling based on what I've seen in the years I've been modifying the truck that I'm limited at the heads, valves, and cams now. I would love to work on those to get better airflow, then I'd finally get to my pie in the sky goal of double the NA engine output. There may have been cheaper ways to get that power, such as a turbo kit, but the low end torque of that supercharger is loads of fun, and I'd rather have that over Redline power. And besides, I have a turbo car so I can have turbo feel if I want.

Sounds pretty awesome. What you graduating from? I know what you mean about reliability, either you spend all the money (like I have) or you keep it simple.

I love the pillar gauges, and having two AFRs is a must have, I think. I put them on my car, too. Tapping into the SC intercooler to measure temperature is a good idea. That's something I should do. Would be really good for the drag strip days, which I haven't done yet.

I tried out Carbinite (https://www.carbinite.com/industries-served/automotive/) on a 1.87" pulley - had a second one made to try it out, kept the original (with RIP mod). Turns out keeping the smooth one was a very good idea.

I daily drove it for about a week with Carbinite and a new belt. It ate through the belt fast - 200 miles or so and a lot of belt "meat" was gone. Near the end of this experiment, the belt shed an entire rib as well.

Note I have the Roush tensioner - upgraded spring rate from 50lbsft (stock) to 80lbsft, and it was tightened to 80-90% of possible travel. As you guys know, I have wrap idlers that give me about 270 degrees of wrap as well. I'd done basically everything I could to remove belt slip.

I will say, the torque and throttle response with Carbinite way better than with the smooth pulley for the first 100 miles. Boost was up at 16psi - and during a WOT run up to redline in 3rd I blew my muffler off, so there had to be a lot more air going through the engine. Therefore I am overall happy with the investment in Carbinite, it will serve as a great piece for the track or dyno.
