Hi everyone! So the ball is rolling for my truck so I figured I would make a "build thread", just so I can keep everything documented.

Side note...this is going to be a fairly slow process as full time student and part time worker do not equal lots of trucks parts

So for some back story: I come from the land of "stancy" cars, but have always wanted a Tacoma, let alone a Timberland Mica one.
I have had everything from Nissan 240's and lowered/lifted Foresters, and an old Volkswagen Vanagon.
    ACD59E24-2394-4AD3-937D-C84FADCCC509.jpg

I currently own this 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit diesel 4dr:
I love this thing to death but I have pondered selling it for more truck parts:notsure: :cough:Topper:cough:
    IMG_2259.jpg

But anyhow, here is the truck! Its a 2009 DCSB TRD Sport with only 119k in my favorite color ever, Timberland Mica:
    image1 (1).jpg

So I have only done a few things thus far:
    Changed trans/diffs/transfer case fluids
Threw in some Weathertech floor mats

(it came with the 4Runner Wheels and new tires)

I only have a small amount of plans (I say that now) for the truck:
    Bilstein 5100/OME 885 lift
16x8 +0 Countersteer Type X's from FN Wheels
BFG K02's (I'm still deciding on size and could definitely use some recommendations)
Topper (Most likely with Leer 100R)
I would love to have a full Front Runner or Prinsu Rack but am also having trouble figuring out why I may need a full roof rack
    ARB Awning
and lastly, some small discrete lighting upgrades

Please give me any suggestions or advice that you can offer! I'm new the whole truck scene but can make my way around with some proper guidance!

The same shit everyone else has.
Love the late Westy Rabbit :)

Don’t sell it, you’ll regret it. Clean MK1s are becoming hard to find.

Man I'm in the same boat. I want a full prisnu rack but I literally would never use it.

Cool 240! Had an '89 SR20 hatch a few years before getting into Tacomas as well. Still miss it from time to time but no looking back for the most part.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!

Should have lift ordered today, I'm ready to order wheels and tires as soon as I decide what size tires I want to run.
I would love 33's if I could get by without have to CMC, I could get it done no problem, I just want to avoid it if at all possible.
I'm afraid if I go any smaller I won't be happy in the end! :help:

Got my lift ordered Wednesday from Headstrong Offroad, Marie was super helpful!
Going to hope to get wheels and tires ordered this afternoon.
I called Dustin at FN Wheels Wednesday as well and he told me the bronze 16x8 +0 Countersteer Type X's were out of stock
And I am entirely too inpatient to wait for them to get more in, so I have decided on the light gunmetal Type X's in the same size!
    17csx-anthracite-side-1050.jpg

And since Tirerack is having a halfway decent rebate on BFGs, I am going to try to get my 285/75 KO2's ordered as well!

Tires and lift should show up tomorrow and the wheels should be here Monday!
Luckily enough, FN Wheels had on last set of the bronze countersteer type X's!
I cannot recommend those guys at FN Wheels enough, Dustin is THE man!

Got some work done today! I am so incredibly happy with how it turned out! So far only some rubbing at full lock, I trimmed some plastic yesterday. Hoping to get it aligned this weekend!

Not too much going on today, got my alignment done after work. Final specs were 1.7* caster and ~0* toe & camber.

Also chopped off that janky noodle of an “aftermarket” exhaust, looks SO much better!

Not too much going on lately, been stalking Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for camper tops for the past few weeks.
Also been looking into some more lighting options, we went for a drive yesterday in the woods and definitely could have used something better. I've had my eyes on the Cali Raised Fog light pod brackets and their amber pods as well; maybe even their mount for the 32" bar hidden in the bumper.

    Random Photos:
Went to Pigeon Forge over the weekend for a car show and stayed in this out-dated, bug infested cabin
    IMG_4146.jpg

and hit some local woods near the house once we got back!

Checked Facebook last night on a whim and saw this posted up 20 minutes before I got on, so an hour drive later, and this bad boy is mine! Killer deal, and has all the options I would want!

I’m in love with this truck all over again now that I’ve got this shell. Just have to throw together a quick sleeping platform and I’ll be ready to camp!

Got a little bit done this weekend!
Finally got my lights wired up in the camper shell. Third Brake light was super easy. And I just ran a wire from the battery for the interior light and tapped the ground for it into the tail lights with the brake light.
