That's my baby. It's been through a lot. Purchased by myself and a friend to train for M9 qualification, i bought it out from him for $330 total bucks (almost brand new), preceded to train super hard with it and began competing in IDPA with it. Shot over 13k rounds through it, never a malfunction. Shattered the firing pin into three pieces, and it continued firing for another 1k rounds till I did a gunsmith-tear-down at 10k rounds and I replaced it. Sent it to Wilson Combat for a refinish while I was in Korea, it was stolen from my home and recovered 1 year later. I replaced all the springs it out still runs 100% and is my most trusted gun to this day.

Traded into this today, but have no clue about precision rifles. I'm a pistol/carbine guy. The deal was so good I had to get it! Any ideas on optics for punching paper, that are <$300? Savage BA 10 Stealth in 6.5 creedmoor.

Instant gratification at home. Taipan Veteran Long air rifle in .22. CZ barrel. Step outside to the shop, sit down at the bench and start squeezin'. 3 cents a round. It's capable of sub MOA at 100 yards IF I bring my A-game and do my part. Sub MOA at 100 with a pellet rifle is a real challenge, almost a Zen-type thing. And not three-shot groups either. Many can do that. FIVE SHOT groups!

Listen, in Texas in the 60's we kids progressed through BB guns, pellet guns, .22 or 20-gauge in our hands out here in the woods. Most every day after school. I started at six, with adult supervision of course. In a lifetime I have pulled a trigger more times than the lot of you. Which qualifies me to make this statement: This is the most fun of any of the shooting sports I dabbled in back in my day. Fun because it is challenging to do well. Fun that is easily accessed at home. Immediate, any time you want. Expands your opportunities to shoot. Tryin' to put 5 in the same hole from the bench at 100 yards. Or 50. Even 25. Or offhand at 10.

There are bi-weekly international airgun benchrest competitions on the web at all of these distances. FREE, costs nothing to enter. Consider getting involved. Download a target, shoot at your convenience, shoot as many targets as you want, upload your best target to enter, that's all. A nice community of people who will fall over backwards to help you sort it out and shrink your groups. Don't have enough time to load up and go to the range? Your shootin' getting a little too expensive? No problem: Put those macho powder burners aside for a moment and give homebound pellet rifle paper-punchin' a try if you want a real challenge. At home. Anytime you want to! And pay it forward, get your grandkids involved. Check your local laws first. Shoot safe!

Shoot heavier pellets and it will slow it down and shrink your groups. Anything over 1000-1050 will destabilize a pellet, make it less precise. Olympic guns shoot maybe 600fps. Mine likes 820.

Anyone have experience with these Vortex Diamondback Tacticals? Trying to get a FFP >16x scope on a budget... I know that's asking a lot, but I probably wouldn't notice the difference between quality and "budget" to be honest. I like to think I'll stretch its legs, but the truth is I don't have access to more than 400yds, lol.

You look at primary arms stuff yet?

I like vortex optics and I have magnifier and RDS on my AR but their scopes are kinda not great IMO. PA seems to be
doing some shit pretty well. They have a FFP 14x for under $300 that seems to get a lot of love.
