    Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a truck and am interested in a 2nd gen Tacoma. I've searched a lot of threads regarding cost and Miles and it's hit and miss.

I'm looking at a 2010 with 130k miles, $16k, double cab, short bed, 4x4, small lift and mud tires. Everyone says maintenance records are your best friend and to look for rust. Some say 130k miles is awful, some say its just fine. I know Toyota has a reputation for being a great brand but I wanted to know your thoughts?

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

130k is nothing to worry about. If it has maintenance records, then just do regular maintenance on it when it is due. If no records, then change the spark plugs and fluids when you buy it and go from there.

Price all depends on what they go for in your area. If you are happy with the price, then it’s a good deal.

Get the info on the lift. You don’t want to inherit someone else’s problem. I honesty would never buy a modded truck

130k is nothing. It’s just getting broken in.

thanks everyone. I'm not in the family just yet haha

Another question, I found another Tacoma, a 2007 with 113k miles (20k) less, with what seems to potentially be a factory lift or slightly smaller, slightly smaller tires, and a good interior (tear in driver bolster, everything else great). It does however have the 6ft bed vs the short one. It doesn't look too goofy. This one is about $2k cheaper before negotiations.

Why should I stay away from the 2007 and go for the 2010 with more miles and potentially more wear from bigger tires and a bigger lift? I can't find much on the differences between the 07 and 10, both are 2nd gen i believe.

There is a frame recall on the trucks due to corrosion. Check to see if the 2007 has had the frame replaced. 2010 trucks were just recently added to the frame recall, and most likely won't have a new frame.

Still haven't bought a Tacoma but my dilemma is different now. I'm finding lots of pre runner Tacomas that I love the look of. But 2wd.

Internal thoughts ... I've always owned 4wd trucks and SUVs. How many times have I used 4wd......ZERO. do I off-road? No lol do I need a 4wd truck .. I don't know. Better to have and not need, than need and not have ...what to do....
