Y’all are way more motivated than I am about paint care. I just drive through the car wash machine once every couple of months and call it good.

I bought a bottle of this and used it a few weeks back out of curiosity. Not sure if I did something wrong (over-applied? I followed the instructions.) but I couldn't rinse this off or buff this shit out for the life of me.

For your first application you spray the vehicle when wet and then rub in like a traditional wax. After that initial application you can spray and rinse.

This is a great thread. I will be trying out the new Meguiara ceramic wax. I've been a long time fan of Mequiars Ultimate Quick Wax.

The thing I like about the new quick waxes is the way they treat plastic trim items. It helps seal and protects plastics along paint. If I decide to use a conventional wax, I "pre-treat" the plastics with Mequires Ultimate Quick Wax.

Here's a picture of some plastic trim on a black vehicle after a Meguiars quick wax treatment.

    UQW004_0cac370e4987a76d214b30e3f21c94ee72683767.jpg

Here's a picture from the end of a "seven-week" comparison between Mequiars Ultimate and Eagle Nano that I ran a few years. The right side has Meguiars. I took the vehicle to the carwash weekly and compared the wax's ability to bead water after each wash.

I did that. After being unsuccessful trying to rub it in, I said "f*ck it" and decided to abort mission and hose it off.

I don't think you rub it in, you just wipe off like your drying the body with a micro fiber towel, no rubbing

It wouldn't wipe off is my point. It went on super thick like play doh, not like a spray wax like I expected. My guess is I overapplied. Or maybe I didnt shake the bottle or something.

Did you apply to an already wet vehicle? You just want a light coat. Dragging the towel over should give full coverage. I have a full bottle of this stuff right now, but haven't applied it yet. I'll report back.

Yep, I did. I think I was just too generous with the application. I'll give it another shot during my next wash.

Too heavy handed with the spray bottle I guess. There was nothing on the bottle about how much to use, just "spray over all exterior surfaces."

When it comes to detailing products always remember "less is more". I gave a buddy some Optimum Spray Car Wax to try several years ago. I gave him a little over an ounce to use. He looked at me like I was nuts. I told him that amount of product should be fine for three vehicles. He still gives me crap about it but he does admit I was right, lol.

I like thin coats, but also I layer the coats after the first sets up when im using a sealant, this stuff looks very simple to use apply to a wet washed car and wipe off especially wipe off on the first or base coat as the guy in the video suggests for a better result

Love that stuff! Couldn't figure out why it was streaking so bad until I started spraying it on a microfiber and wiping onto my truck. That worked wayyyy better and I used way less. Fixed my streaking issue.

I don't know where these dudes are going with this video, its almost like they are saying that Meguires Hybrid ceramic is main use is a booster for a professionally Ceramic coated finished vehicle:notsure:

I played the video but didn't follow all of it but did catch that is why Megs made the product. However just like similar products that CarPro and others make as toppers for coatings, these are essentially sealants and can be used standalone without an underlying coating.

Personally, I find it amusing that folks are now applying Ceramic Coatings to protect their vehicles, then applying other coatings to protect their Ceramic Coatings. Kind of like putting floor mats in your vehicle, then putting in a second set of mats to protect the first set. Words fail me.

But at least the manufacturer like CarPro is recommending it. Now are they doing it to sell more product or does the user actually benefit from doing so. Meanwhile some of the pro coatings don't need these toppers like Optimum's pro grade coating.

I always thought these people layering Collinite 845 on top of Powerlock seemed wonky. Which is essentially two decent lasting paint sealants on their own. It's not like the combo is going to last twice as long, but if you're convinced it looks better who am I to argue.

The thing is do what works for you, learn how to prep the vehicle and apply what you like. At least there is a large market for a variety of products to suit various environments and application styles.
