Opening day for New Jersey trout season starts April 6th. Which is today.

Today I'm heading out with my brother to hit some hotspots that I know of around my area. Hopefully we will have some pictures to post up.

    Happy fishing....

Lol some of my earliest memories are fishing for trout in NJ :)

My grandparents would take me to echo lake park near Mountainside to angle for the stockfish. Good times, I remember lots of goose shit on the banks and weird stuff floating in the water lol

Really loved visiting them at their Mountainside home. Westfield was the closest thing I saw to a big city till I was like 8 lol. Things became different when they moved to philly, maybe I grew up or something

I wish they’d do delayed harvest/opening day around these parts. Would give the kids a better crack at the fish and start to dismantle the stock truck chasing drag hooking power ‘bating bud light can chucking white trash circus that is “trout season” here lol

Last week was the regular opener here. Week before, they had a mentored youth day. It is supposed to be about kids, but adults can fish as well, so your analogy applies in most cases on that day. First saturday was crazy with people since it was warm. Sunday, same spot, i saw one guy that wasn’t with me. I caught 25 in 5 hours on the fly rod.

That's great, she'll remember that! I saw a girl bringing in a trout on the Delaware/Raritan canal in Washington's Crossing on Sunday. I had my speed boat out on the river so I tried a little fishing from the dock for bass/striper/shad but had no bites.

Ive never done any trout fishing. Do you fish for numbers or for size?

I fish until I’m satisfied. Neither really matters, some days I’m satisfied catching nothing at all.
