Though it shows as 304A5100 with HP. I guess there was an update that I needed.

When I turned it off on my Camaro, I picked up 4 mpg. MPVI2 should be here Tuesday, so Tacoma tinkering will begin shortly after that.

I haven't forgotten about ya! :) I am actually out on the "closed course" behind my house developing the 91/93 Octane Base tune for N/A guys with stock exhaust manifolds. About to wrap up here.. I'll be in touch shortly.

Mine is 304a4000 although I have a 2015 xrunner. Hptuners is working on seeing why I cannot read my truck.

If you have an hptuners supercharger calibration file saved from someone else that is the correct calibration do you think it would be possible to flash it.

Not with HPTuners. You'll need to use the Mongoose cable (or Tactrix 2.0 if you're feeling lucky) and Techstream.

Let me clarify if you and me have the same truck. But I have a supercharger calibration and you are NA could I just read my tune from my truck and flash it to yours?

Just trying to think out side the box here.

Unfortunately if you have the Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 Cable, that's not going to allow you to use the HPTuners software or maps. You'll have to pick up a MPVI2 from HPTuners or any retailer that deals with HPTuners product. The device is universal to a boatload of vehicles, so you don't have to have a Toyota specific shop (or HPTuners themselves) to buy it. Once you have the MPVI2 unit, you can then read/log your vehicle. Since you're not comfortable tuning your own truck yet, you could then send me your stock file, I can edit it, email it back to you for you load/test.

But the moral of it all is you'll have to invest in the MPVI2 to allow me or others access to remotely tune it.

Can you post a screen shot of the message you get when trying to read your ECU?

The HPTuners MPVI2 does not actually physically "read" or "copy" the data contained in the ECU. It's not possible to transfer the tune from the ECU to the OBD2 port. The "read" you're doing is actually a virtual read. Where it references your calibration ID and HPTuners connects to their server, where they have all the calibrations stored on a server. HPTuners then provides you with a COPY of the calibration they read from another ECU with the same version.

You then edit that file, and when you go to "Write" the tuned file to the truck, the ECU can be written from the OBD2 port, so the file you edit is what will digitally be in your ECU.

    Does that make sense?

So if you have the TRD calibration, you could read that, but it would not match my calibration in my truck and would probably fail. I'm honestly not sure on this, but HPTuners has stated that they are not going to convert people to the TRD cal on their forum. I'm not sure if that will change, and if it does, how it will be implemented. But at the time of this message it is my understanding that it is not possible.

I think in time with enough support for this application it's something that could easily be implemented though.. Probably worth all you S/C guys sending them a support ticket asking for that feature, because I'm pretty sure the hardware/software is capable of it..

I wonder if it's the message where it basically tells you in a long drawn out way, they are not physically reading the ECU and it's a virtual read.

I'll put a $1.00 down that is the issue. (no offense to you @arcenik) It's kinda confusing and makes you believe it failed. Just click ok through all of that stuff.. I bet you're golden :)

I understand it does not actually read the ecu. I was hoping that if one has the correct super charger tune from some one else that it would flash it. But it sounds like it possibly might if the ecu does not reject it.

I really don’t get a message from the VCM editor it just says failed to read and goes to 100% really quick. It almost seems like they don’t have my calibration saved on there server.
