As I understand, the $45 option is for the plug and play harness only and will require you purchasing an actuator or pop n lock kit. This allows you to avoid splicing the vehicles wiring harness. The $65 option is for a complete kit that can be installed without additional components. Not sure on the quantity left. The first post shows 3, but you can pm @KTJO 4x4 and she can let you know for sure.

Those spacers look to be the way to go. I should be getting mine in the next week or 2. Glad I seen this post. Thanks

Clean install. I’m always an advocate of keeping the linkage straight and parallel as possible.

I’ve purchased the Pop n Lock kit. Not happy with it. Unlocks when it wants to which makes you dig for your keys. Very frustrating.

I have since purchased this full kit which is cheaper with no splicing. Just waiting for it to arrive.

Super clean. More info on these spacers?
And did that height of the spacer keep the rod parallel?

Got my pop and lock installed today using the wiring harness. Works awesome and the harness makes it so easy and clean. Thanks again!

    It’s defiantly an easier approach.
After installing/replacing hundreds of actutors, I feel the closer the load is to the same plane as the solenoid ram it prolongs the life of said actuator. Just my .02.

I need to update the orders. I do have some over the 300 so I’m not worried about receiving a few orders over the 300. Which I know I have right now. I will be updating this tonight. I’m currently putting the last touches on the install guide for the 4Runners before I ship out the DIY Kits tomorrow morning. Once I am done with that, I will update this list.

I am looking to purchase another order of these harnesses due to the fact that I can sell the for both my mods: Tailgate Actuator and Power Folding Mirrors. Therefore, if you are someone that really wants this mod and I am sold out, still continue to place your orders. Just know, when I run out of my current stock, you will need to wait until I get my new order in.

Agreed but this time I cheated and did a joggle bend in my actutor rod. Smooth as butter.

Katie’s harness installed this weekend with the Pop&Lock, really hassle-free. Thanks for the hard work on this.

I am pretty sure they are these ones... https://www.amazon.com/4-Pack-Multi...ocphy=9029012&hvtargid=pla-691369448567&psc=1

After the initial fit, they were a bit too long, so I trimmed them with a sharp knife to just under 1 1/4" long. In reality, I played it by eye, but the ones I have prepped for my next install are that long. This created that straight linkage I was going for. These little guys aren't cheap, but my justification was I saved enough by using @KTJO 4x4 's kit that I could spend another $16.99 to make this work for the life of the truck. You can still definitely hear it, but it doesn't give the sheet metal that tweak I saw earlier in the thread (and when I just used the supplied screws that come with the actuator. I think I saw it in a @mesojdm thread when he did this mod a while back. I can't find that thread now (of course). Even the 3" screws were cut to length. Longer than 2 1/2" but shorter than 3". If I am going in, I am not going in again.

I probably put the actuator in and out 3-4 times before I was satisfied with the finished product. Once with the screws, did the lock/unlock sequence...and was not happy with seeing the tailgate metal flexing, and remembered I had the rubber pieces. Once with the rubber at its original length but that made the actuator on a lower plane than the tailgate connection.

Got mine installed today. Instructions were clear once I knew what I was looking at. Everything went in as expected. Will probably add spacers as others have shown. The actuator is a bit loud. I used foam between the metal and actuator, didn’t seem to do much. Not too worried about it.

Thanks again Kate! I’m excited I can finally lock the tail gate!

These look like the spacers that come with the tv wall mounts. If you have that hardware laying around, it’s worth a try. I know I have some at work. Will try that. Thanks.
