Saturday, I took my "new to me" 2016 Tacoma Limited with just under 15,000 miles on it, to the dealership to have the oil changed and things checked out to make sure it was "up to date" on TSBs and such.

So about 3 hour later I get the call it's done and come get it. As the Service Manager and I were going over the paperwork, I didn't see where they changed the oil. So I finally asked him if the oil had been changed and he tells me it wasn't needed!:confused: Huh, so I asked him to pull up the service record and he's showing me that it had the oil changed at 7,000+ just last September.... I then pointed out, yeah, September 2017!

He immediately apologized and said he would get the oil changed right away. And while they were at it, replaced a filter that apparently rats or mice had taken a couple of bites out of.

When I went back to pick it up with the fresh oil change, he told me that even though the "3 Years/25,000 mile" Free Vehicle Services expired the week before (3/31, six days before) that they were covering the service for free!

I had planned on paying for the service, figuring that it was out of the coverage anyway, but they were willing to cover it, why not! :D

Sounds like a decent, honest dealership either that or your service rep got laid on his lunch break. For any return service I’d specifically ask for him.

Nope, my 2015 Highlander had the same thing. 3 (Three) years or 25,000 miles, every 5,000 mile, service. Which included oil changes every 10,000 miles! I do think that on the Rav4 (used) we bought, it was two years.

Maybe it depends on the dearlerships?
