I am sure this has been covered, however, is Lucas worth double $$ Super Tech Full Synthetic Gear Lubricant 75W-90? I just did my front diff and transfer case this past weekend (used Lucas) and it really got me thinking, I should be doing the rear diff too. I'm just having a hard time with 14.00 a QT...but maybe it's worth it.

    What say the hive??

Plenty of opinions to come I am sure. Someone told me that the supertech comes out of the same tap as the name brands. I would run it with no issue as long as you keep up with the regular changes.

Nope I get the cheapest fluids in the proper viscosity. Mobil 1 has a rebate going on right now.

Supertech Synthetic motor oil is some decent stuff, there are some blackstone tests around to back that up. I would have no reservations about using their other stuff on my truck and I also use their tractor oil. If I can’t get M1 on the cheap I use Supertech.

i would however not use anything but Lucas in my front Diff as I have the ECGS bushing and the Lucas is recommended. It has anti foaming additives to keep the bushing properly lubricated.

I had no idea it was Lucas was recommended for the ECGS Bushing, which I also installed this weekend. Got lucky on that one!

I use Lucas dino oil, 80W-90. Costs a little over $6 a quart on sale and shipped to my door from Advance Auto. SuperTech isn't a whole lot cheaper. Got it in both diffs and the xfer case.

I did my last diff / transfer case fluid change with nothing but Supertech full synthetic. that was around 25,000 miles ago and I'll be using them again when its time for another change. zero issues

It's all certified stuff. FWIW conventional dino gear oil generally keeps the metallic components of the gear assembly cooler. ECGS recommends Lucas conventional 85-140 and that's what I run. I doubt it much matters what brand you use.
