+1. Settle on the cash to repair and put it your pocket for future mods, then hit the trails and cover those scratches with some of your own

If it was mine, I wouldn’t settle for refinishing. I will insist on replacement. Small claims court !

Take the repair money in cash then go out and wheel your truck a bit. Wheels will get a little more scratched and you’d have some fun and have some money in your pocket.

was this from an impact tool taking them off/putting them on?
wish they would never use those tools sometimes, take em off the old fashioned way lol
after all of my tire rotations the past 2 decades the only issues have been scuffing the center caps
perhaps my silvery alloy wheels are made of different material than yours or I don't really notice scratches
new OEM alloy wheels for my old truck are about $400 a piece, is it the same $$$ for these?

This crap happens all the time, people have no common courtesy anymore.
I deal with Les Schwab all the time. They have been pretty good.
    Here's what I do...
As soon as I pull up and park, I get out and walk around to each wheel with my cell phone and take a picture.
Then, when I go inside, I tell the person at the desk that I just took pictures of each wheel and PLEASE be careful to not scratch/scuff the wheels.

    So far, so good.

I didn't care about my stock off road wheels, but I have a brand new set of Ray 10's going on in a couple weeks, and I'll start doing the exact same thing!

I'm always nice about it but when the Les Schwab guy runs out and greets me, I kindly tell him to hold on a second while I walk around my truck taking pictures, lol. They usually ask and I tell them that my wheels are in perfect condition and I'm picky about any scratches due to being burned in the past.
I'm sure the word gets out quick when he returns to the work area. :D

Most likely from an pneumatic impact wrench. Time dictates that they need the speed of those tools to be efficient so I can’t argue against using them. BUT- if they are using them on painted or high-end rims/wheels- they should be using impact designed sockets with Delron/Nylon/HDPE sleeves on them. All high end auto shops use them for this specific purpose.

That's what I thought as well, though there were some additional scratches when I took off the center cap where they click in, so maybe the machine they use to mount as well? IDK 20190407_081343.jpg

Those other scratches are from the wheel balancer cones. Demand new rims. If they won’t do it, small claims court. I had this same issue about 6 years ago on my S2000 and ultimately the crappy Honda dealer paid me after I filed a claim in court. Got paid for the rims, mount and balance fees, and a few hundred bucks in legal fees it cost me to file.

    Don’t settle for less.

A regular impact socket with a layer of duct tape around it and just barely folded over the leading edge works too....
Whether they replace or fix them, as long as they look brand new...

you guys arent considering the time. Tire place orders 4 new wheels, they come in, mount and balance 4 in an hour and you are gone. Total time, one hour. Tire place has wheel repair place repair all four, at 4 hours each or so, truck will be out of service for 2 days while they are being remachined/sanded/primered/painted or powder coated. I'm sure you dont want to be without your truck for probably 2 days. And are the wheels painted or powdercoated, powder coating takes a lot of time. Insist on 4 new wheels. By the way, Les Schwab screwed up my wifes accord wheel years ago and wouldnt make it right, I avoid them like the plague, they are in too much of a hurry. And a lot of my co workers have had problems with them also.

I find it funny how everyone is always assuming they are kids. I was the “kid” putting on rims with thin-walled sockets with plastic covers. Mean while over the years have worked with tons of guys putting on wheels with just a normal sockets. With age does come some knowledge and experience, however there are some people who just don’t give a damn about anything. Let’s not assume it’s all young kids doing sloppy work and not having any pride in their work.
