Thanks I checked it out. More than what I want to pay but it would be nice.

Man, i haven’t been on TW in awhile. Update with mine. I’ve had it 6 years now? And honestly it’s getting a little rusty and beat up looking on the inside. And looking up at it from under the truck it’s got rust everywhere. Now, I’ve never done a single thing to it and i live in Kansas. For the $180 price tag it’s been amazing all these year. And if i had washed and took care of it better I’m almost positive it would last a really long time.

My main reason for having it is my jack and tools are in it. I have two car seats in my backseat of the truck and it’s too difficult to undo the seats to get to the storage area underneath.

Thanks man for the info. I’m in the same boat car seats, kids. It’s sucks pulling the seats up or pulling the back out to get stuff. But if I purchased it I would coat it first before installing it. I appreciate the fact that you told me about that because I would have probably not thought about rust and corrosion.

Totally. Mine is still in decent shape after years of driving it in all weather conditions. Had I not been lazy I’m positive it would last the life of the truck if taken care of.

Took it out after 7 ish years? Surface rust all over the outside. The inside of the box looks decent but I can’t tell for sure. Going to sand, prime, and repaint this spring.

I bought both of these. One is a rust converter. The other is used for rust on vehicle frames to prevent rust from spreading.

I’m really just trying to prolong the life a little longer. The inside of the box was really bad also. And i couldn’t fit my grinder/sanding disk in there very well.

You guys that live in areas with salt... I bought mine before I had a bed cover to lock stuff up. Now I never really use it, but it was one of my first mods. Then I found horsepower and everything else has languished.

Sanded, scraped, washed, rust fix and then barrier. Hopefully it lasts another 7 years. Just got done installing it.

Honestly I don’t really have a use for it anymore now that I have a large toolbox. But it’s still kinda cool.

Wonder if anyone has done this with a 2020 that doesn’t have the compartment?

I would advise against drilling drain holes. They are welded and watertight, but the instructions do tell you they recommend you using a rubber coating on the entire backside since it is exposed to the wheel well. I just tape off the front panel and used an aerosol rubber coating. I imagine a ton of gunk would get thrown up through those holes.

I have a 2020 TRD Off-Road and realized the driver side storage was not present after I purchased. If anyone decides to replace their existing storage box with an alternate, I be open to buying the OME (with lid) to help offset the cost of the replacement.
