Mix some white vinegar in a bucket of water and scrub the mat. Leave it outside in the sun to dry. all of these really help the smell go away.

Hey guys, had this problem with a friend's truck before. His girlfriend got so sick of the garage smelling she handed him a bottled concoction and said "douse it in this, let it sit for 30 minutes, then hose it off and do it again."

I have to admit, it didn't smell like a bed of flowers afterward, but it definitely helped.

The mix was like something like 1 TBSP dish soap, 2 cups white distilled vinegar, and a gallon of water.

I think it also depends on how long it’s been sitting, collecting dust in a warehouse. Like those dusty product displays in the nether regions of a Home Depot or Lowes
