I have a 2019 DCSB TRD OFF ROAD with a manual transmission. Just curious if anyone knows how the pre collision system works and if it will bring you to a stop if you’re not paying attention and you don’t put the clutch in.

I’d assume so. I’d think it’s better to stall the truck than hit something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was driving and looking at the temp controls or something, and looked up when the car ahead of me slammed on the brakes, before i could do anything in that millisecond felt like someone slammed on my brakes, and then i put my foot on the brakes of course. I was in 3 or 4 gear cruising. Thats my only experience and it works pretty damn good. Good luck!

For future reference if you don’t already know, the pre-collision won’t bring the truck to a stop if it’s going faster than 25 mph. Unless things have changed within the last year. If you’re doing 50 it’ll knock your speed down to 25. If you’re doing 26 it’ll knock it down to 1. At least that’s how the Toyota rep explained it to me.

Same. I'll be picking up my 19 manual and it's got all the new safety stuff. Hope I dont have to test it out.

It works just fine. It seems to cut throttle to maintain distance then apply brakes if needed. On my commute there are a few grades that slow the truckers down and if traffic is heavy you cant get left to pass them. I have TSS set to the farthest distance setting and it keeps me about 100 yards behind them. I rarely feel it slow down, unless someone cuts in front of me. Its very smooth, and it has made my commute much more enjoyable and hopefully safer. I have an OR and put a chinese Pro grill and garnish on and haven't had any issues yet either.

I’ve had the system alert me to brake but never had it apply the brakes. There were a few times where the car ahead of me was turning into a driveway and I came within a couple feet of them. Didn’t slow me down but it did alert haha

Don't think so lol. It can stop in an average distance of the truck was going 25 mph. If going 50, it will slow down but still hit. It also all depends on environment (rain etc) and that is why distances and speeds are never advertised.

Using my Google foo again, I found the following usefull 3 page pdf that Toyota published back in August 2018. It specifically mentions 2019 and newer vehicles with TSS-P, the version of TSS on our 2019 Tacomas.
See page 2 for an explanation of the braking assist. Note that they mention SLOWING the vehicle, not STOPPING it. They don't mention any difference in Auto vs Manual transmissions.

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjALegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw2RQpHwNJCJSTnK_qvohijn

Now having said that, I have "heard' that TSS "may" STOP the vehicle in some cases.

I have experienced braking assist twice so far where my truck started braking a fraction of a second before I did. I don't remember hearing a warning. It may have happened though.

One of the best things about TSS is the dynamic cruise control. I absolutely LOVE that.
