Would a good professional mechanic with normal tools still need to have the tools specific to installing the needle bearing from ECG?

There's various bearing/bushing puller kits out there. Ive got a few in my toolbox. The tool from ecgs is made (obviously) for this specific job. Its a pretty thin bearing, not a lot of surface available to grab onto. Even the ecgs tool only gets a fingernail on it when pulling it out.

Long story short, im sure a crafty mechanic could make something else work but the tool definately makes it easier

Better and safer if you have the tool, you can always resell the tool here on TW.

I'm not a pro mechanic but I was able to pull the needle bearing and install the ECGS bushing without using their tools. The puller needs to grab a thin bearing without hitting the housing but this would be the case regardless if you're going to the ECGS bushing or not when you replace the bearing.

Do you know which size puller you used out of that kit? I found one for less that has 4 sizes only. But if it has the size I need then perfect
