The manual does say if you are in a lot of stop and go to do it every 5. Doing it at 5k or 10k just based on driving style seems like a big leap. I rotate tires at 5 so I might as well do the oil at 5 as well.

The book says if you Primarily drive in stop and go. As in the majority of the time your car is running. Then yes, oil change. But if you're 20 minutes in a traffic jam and 30 minutes on the highway, that's not it.

That is the best “opinion plan” I have heard on all the bloated oil threads.
It is logical and cost effective.

If your driving falls under severe service. Just drop the oil at 5k/6 months. And put in new oil. I do t even bother with a filter change for mid interval. The filter holds up fine. And the small amount of oil left in the filter is not going to hurt anything.
20 bucks and done.let the dealer die the Toyota care changes and filter changes. At 30 k you start changing the filter on your own.
    These are good deals.
