Recently purchased a Waterport 4 gallon model. However I notice the bed rails seems to flex and bend downwards and when the Waterport attached to the rail with full fill capacity, it’s seems too heavy for the rails. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this normal or is the Waterport when filled just too heavy for rails? My 2nd option is to use the tow hitch attachment and problem is solved.

The weight made my rails flex as well so mine goes into the hitch receiver. It sticks out and hangs low so it isn't good there when wheeling but it's a very convenient location to use and mounts and dismounts in seconds and can be locked.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I thought something was wrong with my rails and or my install of the Waterport. I kept double and triple checking the screws. They were secure and not loose.

x2 mine bends down a lot. Going to see about throwing some washers or something on because I really want to use the bed rails.

A solution was posted by ScorpioVI on another thread here:

    WaterPort Costco

    Works for me.

Edit: I recommend doing the middle first and inserting a drill bit/allen wrench to the back of the tnut to get the bolts in.

I asked Waterport about this and they recommended using the extra t-bolt in the lowest bolthole, to act as a riser to prevent flex. Note, the picture shows two t-bolts being used, but I just moved my middle top one and put it in the middle hole on the bottom instead:

I just used some metal strapping to drop the water port down to the bed. the photo shows 3 straps, but 2 is all that is needed and what i use now.IMG_0695.jpg

This. When you hit a bump the tank will flex first up and then down even more. Off road that can lead to problems. This solution eliminates that flex on the rails, a good idea for any really heavy items you mount there.

    metal strapping
    3/4" bolt
    2" bolt
    lock washers
    washers
    plastic nut caps
    T-nuts

The assembly blocks the cubby when the water port is in place. Currently looking for quick release connectors for the top but this works great.
