Was going to get Sundown x6.5 and of course they are discontinued ...for now... and I would love to get an X8 or even S8 but I don't think will fit...

So now I am looking at https://www.massiveaudio.com/products/hippoxl84-1400w-dual-4-ohm
says mounting depth is 5.28 inches... so that should work even if I have to take the plastic bin out all together behind the seats..

Anyone use these or have experience?

Man 700w RMS is a lot for some 8" woofers. Also need 1.1' of airspace, better get those dimensions right! lol

What are you currently running in you truck?

toyota's "premium" entune with no sub lol...... going to do the speakers myself....just some 2 or 3 ways and then get either a new head unit or an amp to power those and i want a killer 8 or two small 6.5 but need to be single 4 ohm coils for the 2 6.5's because my amd is a rockford bd1000 from about 12-14 years ago...only used it for about a year and half in my old Ranger powering 1 12inch PPI

So amps have come a LONG way since the 90s! Built WAY better, smaller packages with more power, better heat distribution, etc...

I mean you can run it if you want but if it were me i would just buy a new amp...

As far as the airspace, you can probably call a box manufacture and ask them how much airspace their enclosures have. I also know that polyfil helps if your airspace is tight... kinda tricks and allows woofers to act as if there was more airspace if you pack your enclosures with it...

The sundown SD3 only needs .5ft3 of airspace and has less than 5" mount depth. I run 2 of them behind my seats.

Looks like SSA has the X 6.5 in stock. They even have a few 2nd gen SD subs left. Good prices too.
