I was googling around for remote start and came across 12Volt.Solutions. They offered fully plug and play remote start for 2016+ Tacomas in addition to keeping the OEM FOB. I didn't want to carry another fob around with me for remote start. Install was a breeze. Took about 20-30 min at most to complete the install. During the first time of the install, I broke off one of the pins because I wasn't careful enough. I didn't know this until auto headlights weren't working. When I hit up 12Volt.Solutions, I was told it was probably broken pin on the 30 pin connector. Lord behold, one of the pin was bent in the 30 pin connector, and it was the auto headlight connection. This was my fault, and I made that mistake because I wasn't careful enough. 12Volt.Solutions didn't argue with me or make me pay for a new harness or the shipping. They sent me a new one in 2-3 days. What a world-class customer service. I just installed the new harness and GPS smart start module today, and they all work flawlessly.

This does not use the OBD2 port correct?

It kind of sort of does? The t harness will connect to our OBD2 port but there is another open OBD2 port to put in place if you need to use it to read codes and whatnot.

Thanks. I have the ShiftSense Pro and obviously want to keep that and still use the remote start.

I also purchased and installed this plug and play solution. Like OP, I broke a pin in my harness and I gotta say, the customer service is superb! They attempted to trouble shoot and once they determined a new harness was needed, they immediately shipped a new one out. Works as described and I’m grateful for this amazing service.

My kit is on its way from Tulsa...will put it in next weekend. Thanks for the video and the comment about installation time and 12volt customer service. Cheers...

Anyone find a harness / remote start kit that doesn't shut off the engine when you open the door?
I guess it might be a way to prevent someone from driving off without their key fob but it seems like this feature/problem could be eliminated if the doors would stay locked upon remote stop and only allow the doors to be unlocked with the key fob unlock button or hand on the driver's door sensor with fob in pocket..
I'm sure everyone knows it's not good for the engine to shut down then to be started up again that quickly. It also wastes gas.

Hey guys, I installed this last week, works great. Only question is about the battery warning that comes with the kit, it says that when you disconnect the battery, and then re-connect it can try to start the car, and to ask the owner (me) how to disable it....

So, if I want to disconnect my battery in the future I need to pull apart the steering trim again and unplug it? Anyone know more about this

I have this in my Tacoma and love it. I think they are referring to the toggle switch that comes with the kit.
The toggle switch disables the module/system and returns the truck to factory basically.

Thanks, that makes sense and is easier than disconnecting everything.

Sorry for bringing back and old thread and possibly a dumb question. So lets say you "remote start" your truck in the morning. Once you unlock and open your door the engine cuts off? You would then start the truck again upon getting in?

yeah exactly this. Is it a little annoying yea, but it saves your car from being stolen if you live in the city or are in a sketchy area, so I'd say the pro outweighs the con.
