"Cortical irregularity with nonspecific focal lucency in the anterior mid diaphysis of the tibia..." is the Xray result I recieved. My NP is referring me to an Ortho specialist and theres a possibility of MRI here soon. Anyone else receive Xray results like this?

Is this a chronic or acute knee injury?can you bear weight just fine?

Possibility of an avulsion fracture. Thats why the Ortho specialist.

The results just say the Xray is getting dark and light over the bone.

    No.

But my daughter had an xray earlier this year with a reading that didn't sound good either. An MRI showed an irregularity, but nothing worthy of concern or attention.

Point is that xrays are really limited in what they can reveal, but insurance always starts there for costs. Which is fine if it's good enough to resolve the issue. However, if the xray doesn't give adequate clarity, there is importance in how the results are written up to justify the next level of exam (for insurance)

Hoping this is the case for you, and your concerns will be cleared up soon.

The topical anesthetic they use doesnt do anything. Felt like a red hot poker lol. Should have results early next week.

Well outside of invasive and risky nerve blocks you can’t numb bone pain.

I’d have a hard time with someone sticking a giant needle in my tibia haha.

It was a misdiagnosed stress fracture... basically the ortho specialist I saw called my other doctors idiots and said this is a common misdiagnosis. Apparently it can mimick the appearance of a tumor, but in reality it was a blood formation and they biopsied it for nothing. He said I should have been referred to an ortho specialist immediately but Tricare is Tricare...

He also said it there was apparent trauma to the area that was not treated. :anonymous:

Happy for you! Not the path you had to take, but the final diagnosis!

I'm pissed that they scared me, but happy the end result was something not serious. Just no putting my left boot in my subordinates asses for 6 weeks and I should be fine.

You said the pain was random... what was the trauma?

Sorry you had to go through that bullshit.

Get a better primary care provider. Its not Tricare’s fault its the NP for not sending in the referral.
