Yeah. Was all garage and a small house. Wasn’t conducive with teleworking four days a week, two kids, and my parents that drop in for a few days from time to time. Needed more than 1400sqft. Now we have 3500sqft and the garage that doesn’t fit my fleet.

It comes down to the difference that with the caps in place a 3rd gen bed is the same height all around while on a 2nd gen the side caps result in a front gap. With the caps off a 2nd gen bed is the same height around all 3 sides.

The front rail on 3rd gen was actually removed and replaced with alumn angle to match the correct hight.

Ground from the battery. If I could do it all over again, i’d Run a 6 AWG or 4 to a blue seas fuse block mounted to the Rear. With a circuit breaker in line.

Edit: I ran everything in small wires back to the hood. In hindsight. I should have done it all local.

The three pins are as follows. The gold is your ground, the other 2 are the physical switch for your hot. Basically run a positive wire to the first silver lead 1 on the back of the switch, run a wire from silver lead 2 of the switch to the load or light or whatever, then for the ground side, split the ground wire to a Y and run to the ground side of switch or gold lead 3 and the ground side of your load (Lights, accessories, etc. ) The switch has to have a ground pin if you want it to light up. Hope this helps.

I only ran positive from the truck battery, via HD jumper cable. Then grounded my stuff to a bolt on the top side of the frame under the passenger side of the bed. Made for a lot less big heavy wire to run.

I also used a lot of Blue Sea stuff: ml-acr, fuse block, 12v sockets, usb, and voltage meter. Also a battery selector switch so I could manually select between my two house batteries, or shut them off completely and still run everything off the truck.

Edit/note. Not a big deal, but I think it was the smart usb by blue sea that is 1mm larger in diameter than the other plugs, and wouldn't fit in the holes. I grabbed a wood paddle bit and reamed it out just a touch to make it fit. Still no clue why the difference in size, and it wasn't mis manufactured, the diameter was listed on the packaging that way.

Thank you guys for all the electrical assist... Was about to pull off the house battery and almost bought all the switches and came across the goal zero 1000 watt lithium pack for a very good deal... couldn't pass it by so I'm set hopefully for now, probably will throw a solar panel on it and call it a day. I like that it has everything built into one unit clean and simple. Anyone uses it curious if there are more goal zero fans out there

I had a goal zero 1400 lithium but it didn't place nice with my ARB fridge so it went back. The 12v socket goal zero uses doesn't agree with the 12v plug that ARB uses for some reason so you have to use a little dangle dongle thing. I ended up putting in a larger main battery and just run a single battery with the ARB hardwire kit.

oh no! well... I've got my eye on Dometic but it's basically the same thing since ARB buys their pumps from Dometic. Since mine is only 1000 watt wonder how long it will last. In theory its about 96 amp/hr so it should last as long as a sizable AGM battery but who knows. Probably better off getting the fridge and testing it all out before building out and wiring the truck for something that just doesn't work well. was your an older model?

My blue sea sub panel is only a 6 circuit, but it’s got the grounding bus on it. I didn’t want to fiddle with trying to find good grounds for what ever I happened to wire in. I just run a two-wire line from the box to the item and save myself the headaches.

House battery... From experience, unless you are running multiple days with out running your engine, a second battery isn’t required. I’d only consider one if I was going to be stationary for 2+ days and the 15-30min of idling fuel to recharge off the alternator was out of the question.

    But they are EXPOAF!!

I got it last year at some point, if you call up goal zero, they knew exactly the problem and sent me the adapter thing no charge. I’m not sure if they’ve changed since then or not. It had plenty of run time and worked, I just didn’t like the fact I had to use the 12v adapter thing cuz I figured I’d even up breaking it or losing it.

You could always make your own connector and not have to worry about it if you had the same issue I did.

This is the thing they sent me

I think that Goal Zero will probably treat you real well. Being it's lithium you probably have similar usable capacity to my dual 66 amp hour Optimas. (Dang I want me some Lithium batteries...)

And I can't remember the last time I charged them off the truck. I just make sure they are fully charged before I head out and setup my 100 watt solar panel when I get there. I normally sit in one place for multiple days, and the 100 watt seems to keep up with my usage (fridge and recharging cell phones).

I've done 3 day/2 night trips without using the solar, as well, and still had plenty of juice leftover. BUT, YMMV as I normally camp in relatively mild temperatures up here in the PNW, your fridge might be pulling more juice if you are camping somewhere HOT.

I've been considering getting a 100 watt panel with the charge controller and alligator clips and just attaching that to my main battery when I end up sitting somewhere for multiple days. Usually I'm on the move though, so its typically never more than 12 hours running off my battery before its getting recharged again but it would be nice to have for sure.

I originally planned on getting a 200 watt hard suitcase style panel, but very glad I decided to grab this lightweight 100w folding panel instead. It's been plenty so far, and it's WAY smaller/lighter.

Agreed. Spoke with yeti guys today. Reason most people have issues is more or less user error. Lithium runs lower amp in general so fridge freaks out and shuts down even though the battery is still got ton of power left. They sell 12v regulator that apparently solves that issue. I’ll begettinf one installed with a 50watt panel on my pinso rack and that should be enough juice for now.

The Dometic CFX models have a setting to control what is considered too low a voltage before shutting the fridge off:
    • High: 11.8V
    • Med: 11.4V
    • Low: 10.1V
So if you get a Dometic CFX, you should be able to run your fridge off the goal zero without the fridge shutting off.
