    Frank,

It does happen when the engine is off. The only other descriptor I have is that when the pedal is at the top (not applied) and then its applied, it feels like the pedal is stuck at the top -- as if two magnets were stuck together and you pulled them apart. That is about the force and distance of the resistance that is felt when the pedal breaks free. The 2016 I sat in at the dealership had the same feeling w/ engine off. This feeling is intermittent when driving, sometimes there, sometimes not.

    Thanks,
    Pat

    OP,
Your description of the pedal "stick" is pretty much what happens in my truck while driving...and it doesn't always do it.
I tried it again with the truck completely off (key out), and there is what I'd call an abnormal feeling resistance at the top of pedal travel.. of course I expect it to feel different than when the truck is running.
Anyway, I would say in my case it's "normal" as I've seen a few other complaints on TW with the exact same symptoms - not to say it isn't a somewhat crappy design!

I would say the pedal sticks 4 out 5 times when I drive and apply the brake. I pushed the brake pedal by hand, with the engine off, and it still sticks. There is some type of rod with adjustment that I can see above the brake pedal under the dash. I have another issue with auto trans slipping when 1st put into drive, so will be bringing that to dealer's attention and will question brake issue again.

Just checking in. Did you ever get an answer or resolution?

I was going to schedule a dealer visit to check trans level but decided to do the self check instead. I will bring up the sticking break pedal again at the 5k check. And yes trans level was about 3/4 qt. low. Shifts are good with very slight delay from R to D shift.

I left my truck at the dealer earlier this week at 2,300 miles. Re: shifting delay R to D, check trans level, and sticking brake pedel (2nd time). Trans level was spot on, as expected since I had checked & filled it on my own. No cure for R to D delay but was told Toyota is aware of the issue.

SW said they put in a service request to Toyota in regard to the sticking pedal. They previously checked another Tacoma last time I complained about the sticking pedal and it also was sticking. This time I was able to check a TDR OR and the pedal was perfect. No sticking, as it should be. But the brake system on the OR is different than the other Tacoma models. SW was with me this time. There was no other Tacomas on the lot to test.

Yesterday I met a friend who also purchased a Tacoma SR5 in April & I was able to test his brake pedal - it also sticks. Will let all know what answer I get from the dealer. They said it may be a few weeks before Toyota is able to respond.

I have also been having the same brake problem with my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times so far with the same conclusion, that the brake operation was normal. It is very annoying and frustrating. I have gone to the corporate level with no results. I think if enough people complain about the brake situation something maybe done about it. I am at the point of thinking legal action maybe my only other option.

Toyota will probably tell you it's normal. My 16 is at 27K miles and I notice it from time to time but mostly forget that the pedal sticks now. Your call to get it checked out considering the safety issue and peace of mind.

Had truck in for bumper realignment and had them look at this. Two people claimed to not feel it. I still feel it every time. Did anyone with this issue ever get it fixed or figure out the issue?

This is happening on my '18. Haven't had it a full year yet, just over 5k miles . Two dealership appointments, both say it's normal operation and didn't exist. I sat in another on the lot that did not have this issue and asked my "advisor" to check it out. He claimed both were exactly the same. There was an obvious difference. I'm working with the service manager now. Supposed to have a factory trained engineer there next week he said I could bring it in to. We'll see what happens.

Took the truck in this morning and they just called me back and said there's no problem found. Everything is functioning exactly as it should...This is irritating.
