I am working on getting my pack list ready for a 5,000 mile camping trip coming up. I’m trying to find some weather tight totes that pack well in the back of my short bed. What are y’all using?

Plano makes a 'sportsman's box' that seems to work well for a friend. Reasonable in price too.

I like that Plano box, I have been looking for a good tote to help haul around stuff, I don't want to but a tool box on it to make a small bed smaller, I found some atime lowes that'd fit the bill. Sub'd to see what everybody else uses.

I have two of the Plano sportsman's trunks. The large one I keep in my truck bed for dry storage and the medium one I bought for making a disaster kit.
I wouldn't call them "super heavy duty" but for the price they do the job quite well.

The problem I have with totes like those is they leave a lot of dead space around the sides because of the overhangs.

Yeah their not bomb proof by any means. He isn't gentle with his stuff and it's held up just fine over the last year or so. He has the medium size I think. Local BigR store sells them for $20 give it take.

I don't have these, just offering them as a suggestion if you want super rugged. I have the 1st ones I posted and they fit great, but are flimsier. Looking at dimensions the mil ones are bigger but I think they would still be below the top of the bed rail.

That is true. I always find something to fill the void. Usually the kids folding camp chairs or beach umbrellas.

I just bought some big ones for my fire gear and rope gear from Walmart. Just measured to the top of my bed cover and got the tallest one that would fit. Cheap and works great.
