For those of you who have installed an after market roof rack, which sealant did you use to make sure it was water tight to prevent leaks into the cab. I’ve seen some people use RTV silicon. I’ve read hat his may cause issues later down the road due to the curing process making the sealant acidic and may cause paint damage. If this is true any other recommendations?

You can use GE silicone II (pretty sure it’s non acetic acid) if you are worried about acetic acid cure silicone. There are also specifically marketed non-acetic acid silicones, like those made for aquariums.

FWIW I installed an LED bar mount using the roof rack holes and had no issues with conventional RTV. If you just open up holes for the bolts and leave the painted tape otherwise in place, the RTV/silicone will just be in contact with the bolt threads anyway.
