I'm new to posting here, but have been reading TW posts for a while getting tips on various fix procedures for my '98 Tacoma. I'm posting because I have two questions:

One: Is it possible to replace ONLY the headlight lens and not the entire headlight assembly? I recently picked up a pair of "new" headlights for a '98 Tacoma on Craig's List and they are pristine. I just want to swap out the lenses and not hassle with swapping out the entire assembly (and then dealing with adjusting them, etc.). It looks like there are a series of clips around the perimeter of the lens holding it on, but I can't find anything about best practices on removing those. And I don't want to just start prying at the clips for fear of doing damage or screwing something up because of not knowing how the "right way." If swapping out only the lens isn't possible, or it's more hassle than just swapping the entire headlight assembly, so be it. Please let me know.

Question two: I want to replace my backup light bulbs with something substantially brighter. Yes, I've seen the extensive review of LED and HIR bulbs, but I was wondering if there is a simple chart that lists the OEM bulb and the various replacements (with lumen output) that will work for that bulb BY YEAR (or 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen). It's a bit confusing trying to figure out if the bulb I'm looking at will work in my '98 or not. Just wondering if something like that is available.

Thanks for any help. And even as I write this, it reeks of NOOB, so my apologies for that....

    JB

@jimbodacious To take the lens off would require you to take the headlight out of the truck anyways. You would have to heat up the headlight to Break the seal. Honestly it would be easier to just swap the whole deal then adjust your headlights.

Exactly the lens info I was looking for. As for the 1156, is there a chart or something that gives corresponding LED and HID bulbs that will work for that?
