I know this is going to sound like a commercial, and in a way I guess it is, but I promise I am not a rep, and I'm not a shill. I just think this is a great way to see Baja!

I've been on 3 Camp4Lo adventures lead by Matt Frick. The first was a 7 day trip and the last two were more modest 4 day, weekend trips. All three were amazing in their own way. From crossing the boarder (an intimidating process for the uninitiated) to finding great tacos (vivo El Trailero) and gassing up, Matt and Andrew (aka Big Limey) took care of everything.

My last trip was the Montañas a la Playa Trip in March. We met up in La Mesa (near San Diego) and crossed the board at Tecate first thing Friday morning. We dry camped that night on El Diablo dry lake giving everyone a chance to show off his or her rig's overlanding capability. We then headed into the mountains (or las montanas as we say) to visit Mike's Sky Ranch, a legendary stop for Baja racers. These trails were more technical though nothing the novice should worry about. Saturday night we camped at an amazing ranch called Los Coyotes before heading down to the coast to play on the beach. We relaxed with margaritas and snacks at the Pirate Bar before moving on to Cuatro Casas on the Pacific coast. Monday we headed up the beach (did I mention you get to drive on the beach?) to Ensenada for a quick taco stop before the return to the states.

The best part of the trips was all the great people I met and the variety of rigs on the trail. My 2015 DC Tacoma, a highly modified Raptor, an overland-ready Subaru, Jeeps, Four Runners, Blazers - you name it. Matt has real Baja racing experiences and used that to find some fun-high speed trails to bring out the Walker Evens in anyone as well as some technical sections to up the pucker factor (alittle).
