I did not. I wasn’t sure if he was still around or not. Here’s my parts list.

Replaced my shoes and drums today. I fucking hate drum brakes with a passion now. Learned a lot though and could do another set in half the time.

Fucking winged the hell outta it. I had a little help from a chrisfix video but it didn’t help as much as I thought. I took pic of it all, and only did one side at a time so I could reference the other side (that saved my ass a few times)

The reason I hate them now is putting it back together. I got out of order and had to take back out the biggest, strongest spring that was brand new. Talk about an adventure. Had to go buy needle nose vice grips for that one.

Other adventure was adjusting them. The little access hole is tiny and you can’t see shit. So I had to take the drum back off, figure out how to adjust it blindly, and redo that.

All in all took about 6 hours, including going to the store to buy the new vice grips.

It's not as intimidating as I thought though. When I started I was like "Ok where the fuck do I start." I just started taking shit apart until eventually it was all off the truck.

But you got new vice grips...... Man, I actually love working on drum brakes. But I feel like a part of that is because most people don't know how anymore. Makes me feel all learned and shit. That's what I get for driving old vehicles my whole life. Well, and a Taco....

I will say it's nice to have it all done and no major issues. And you're right, I got a new tool! I also bought a drum brake specialty kit, which helped a bit.

I got one of them!! This is the kit I got.

Did the best I could, yes. I live on a steep hill, so I did like 5 small laps to where I kept coming downhill, and did 7-8 hard stops from 30mph to 5 mph. Then let the brakes cool. USed my fancy new laser thermometer to check, and the front got to 350-400 and the rear to only 115 haha

I mean, for real, can we stop and talk about this tool for a second....? It's like if somebody sold an "oil change wrench". It's a 14mm on one end, a filter wrench on the other, oh and it's also a fucking funnel.

Nice! Man, I'm moving this weekend and I DREAD moving the garage. Diving into packing it up tonight. I was just thinking about you moving soon and all the stuff you're going to have to load, but then realized I'm in the exact same situation...

That's the best part, the Air Force will be packing and moving alllllllllllllllllllllllllll of our stuff. I'm going to take some stuff my own (like tools I don't want them touching) but they can take most of it.

 Yeah man, they do it all. Your allowed weight is based off of rank and number of dependents. The other option is to move yourself, and they pay you. In their eyes, they could pay a company $4,000 to move you, or you move yourself and they pay you the $4,000. I've done both ways and having them move you is worth it.

Damn, that's amazing. When we moved both to and from WV my wife's new job's paid relocation fee's. This move is only 30 minutes away and I am both dreading moving myself this time, but also glad because I can't stand watching tweaker movers banging all my shit around.
