Anyone out there running the Halo9 ilxf309 head unit? I am wondering if that one retains all factory settings and will still be able to change them after taking out the factory entune unit. If no, then what head unit out there will retain all factory settings and controls that I might lose when replacing the factory system?

I was on that thread earlier actually. It doesnt really have an answer to my questions specifically. Im just having a hard time deciding whether or not I want to do this because other than sound it all almost sounds like a $1k downgrade. Also the unknown fact of whether or not these audio companies are just lying to me for a check as there are no "satisfaction guarantee" policies smh

I dont think you can use the factory mic with alpine either unless this audio place is just bs me. I'm not dead set on it yet but I had found out that the one I was going to get (newer but cheaper ilxf209 I think it is.) Wont retain any factory options anymore which is why I am now considering the 309. I hate how advanced they make these new vehicles sometimes. Makes it so hard and expensive to change certain things.

And I dont change often. But I still like the ability too. One thing I'm concerned about most if I do it that way is if it will go back to default factory settings. I know it's simple things but an example is like how I have the option turned on for one press to unlock all doors or when I touch my handle it unlocks all doors and the volumes of chime etc. I guess worst case scenario if I hate it I can just take it out and sell it even though I'll still be out of pocket at least a grand

I’m looking into this same information too. I’d like to keep my settings the way they are. I never change them but as you stated wouldn’t want them getting returned to default.

Hey all I'm back so I went through with the change. I lost my compass (never used) and the source section of the cluster (again never used that either) all settings made while the factory unit was still installed was retained. So set it to what you desire and just forget about it. Sound quality is insane. (Still factory speakers too)

I opted for the ilx-f259. Newer version but cheaper since it doesnt do all the obd connections. Total bill came to $1067 for stereo and instilation after tax. Hope this will help anyone looking for info

Also that mic is ugly as hell. I'm going to see about relocating it.

idk how quality it really is - but another option when your talking about spending $1K+ - Taco Tunes and keep the factory head unit?

That looks good, also good to know the truck kept your settings, I was curious about that myself.
Apart from sound quality, do you like the Alpine? Do you use CarPlay or the android equivalent?

I use the android. I just got it about an hour ago so I still gotta mess around with it a little bit but so far it's pretty flush and simple. Also as a side note I remember reading in another thread where someone said they lost their sonar sensors. That is not true mine still work perfectly. Whoever they brought it to must have messed that up somehow

I think if you install it with the maestro idatalink you can still change settings just like the stock unit. I’m planning on making this upgrade sometime soon myself.

The guy told me you lose it either way but I'm not sure. If there is one that might work that way it's the ilxf309 but I'm not 100%

Yeah, I think you’re right in that it only works with the 309.

The dealer here has an Alpine Edition T4R for some good markup on an SR5. Has that same head unit and some leather wrapped custom seats. Want too impressed with the Alpine unit sticking out so far.

I passed on the Halo because of screen resolution. I'm going with Kenwood soon.
