    Greetings.

I love Tacoma. I had a 99 and sold it, got a camry, hit a deer in Colorado, got a Kia (my credit sucked at the time and only car I could get into) and now I just let the kia go and now in a 2019 Sport 4x4. I ended up with this because the dealership gave me a really good deal and my out the door price was about 37K for a new truck!

So I was doing a lot of thinking. What is the major differences between the sport and the off road?

From what i can see on the sticker the off road costs a bit more and has more on it, but its also geared for more off road.

The Sport seems like its better suited for road driving, is this true?

I will do nearly 99% of all driving on California roads and no real off road. I go camping 2x a year for 2 weeks at a time and will take various dirt roads to the campsite which is the real reason I wanted 4x4 and also for snow and ice as my son moved from Colorado to Minnesota and the Camry always slid all over (which I hated) when I visited at Christmas time.

Glad to be part of this community ..(again).

The TRD Off-Road does have more on it, yes, but it's stuff that you're not going to take advantage of if you're not going to be off-road.

I have an OR, and I haven't really found it to be uncomfortable on the road. That said, you're likely to get much better gas mileage given the lower stance, chin spoiler, etc.

It comes down to intended use and personal preference. I love the aggressive look of the TRD OR, especially when parked next to my MIL's TRD Sport. She likes her look a lot more. It's all relative.

On the bright side, you have a sunglass holder. Us offroaders don't get that.

The OFFROAD has a 4.10 gearing and rear locker, I'm battling regearing and a locker in mine, wish I would have found a OFFROAD for as good of a deal.

Sport has harder suspension. You feel the bumps more when off-road but before you hit the preload point they react similarly...so they drive the same on smooth straight roads

    Sport has Skewp.

    OR has locker features.

Sport cost more for the trim package than most guys spend on mods to copy it.

You are about to get slammed with opinions...try search box.
